    Dash Electronics upgrade

I agree with Capt Bill, pics of your set up would help. I used black acrylic to match the other box covers and cabin hatch.

    Suzuki Props For Marlin

You can call Grady to confirm, but I'm pretty sure your boat would be rated for 600 HP. My 2005 is and I confirmed before repowering for insurance purposes. The newer models have a beefed up transom to handle 700 HP.

Toe In or Toe Out for Twin Engine Applications

I think it's the reverse. Motors on transom = toed in. Motors set further back = 0 or possibly toed out.

Toe In or Toe Out for Twin Engine Applications

Here's an old post on the issue: https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/setting-toe-in.11808/ Plenty of reasons for toe-in. Again it has to do with the flow of the water. If you have flexible brackets and counter rotating props then maybe toe out. Or if the motors are set back on a bracket where...

    Suzuki Props For Marlin

I have 300 Zukes on my 05 Marlin and running 3/16/8.5 SS Suzuki props. I get ~5700 RPMs at WOT. I don't have a generator and just the regular hard top (no tower).

Toe In or Toe Out for Twin Engine Applications

When I repowered the engines were set to 0 toe, and the boat didn't handle right; it giggled on plane. I called Grady, and they also told me 0. However, in the beginning of the following season I measured a couple of 330's that were on the dry and both had about 5/8" - 7/8" toe in (despite what...

    Overall length of Marlin

I was thinking the same thing. The stern of my boat hangs out at least a foot or two past the end of the dock. I have fenders horizontally mounted all along the edge of the dock, and I hang an additional one with rope tied through the gunnel rod holder, since the rear cleat would have the fender...

2002 Marlin starboard side tackle storage box

I have a 2005, and just replaced all of mine with these: https://planomolding.com/products/rustrictor-3700-999plasv370 They are a perfect fit. There is a plastic tab on the left side of the cover, that you'll need to cut off. There are other models of Plano 3700 boxes, which are the OEM that...

    Gas Tanks Question

As previously mentioned, best to look up your year, model and options for for that year. I had a '99 with a 134 gallon main and 26 gallon aux. I think there was an option for a larger aux, because I always regretted not getting it. But don't know the size of that option off the top of my head.

Amp Mount Location on a Marlin

I think a lot of the vacuflush equipment is behind that panel. Depending on the size of the amp, you might find a place to mount. What about inside the cabinet under the port side seat next to the helm? Much dryer in there.

    Loosing motivation

There should be a "Fixer Upper" or "Holmes on Homes" type of show for restoring boats. I know I'd watch it. Heck, there's a ton of car restoration shows as well. It's a labor of love just to maintain them. Keep it going, build it the way you want it, and love it.

Grady hit by whale in Rhode Island

I had a humpback breach at about 11:00 (direction not time) when I was cruising around 28 knotts. I came off the throttles as fast as I could and watched it go under my bow and braced for my boat potentially clipping it. Fortunately we didn't collide, but it was super close and scary as hell.

Transom Rebuild - The Saga Begins

I know prices change region t region, but I was looking at a transom rebuild on my '99 Islander and was quoted 10-13k (pre covid). I think it would have been a little more involved than what Fishtales dealt with, but you really don't know until they open everything up. In the end be glad the...

    Retracting trim pistons (Yamaha)

I had 225's so yes a huge improvement. With them, I would cruise at 4400-4600 RPMs, and would be going slower with higher fuel burn. I'm currently running 3/16/8.5 props.

    Retracting trim pistons (Yamaha)

Pat, Slightly off topic, but since you asked earlier in this thread; I took some pics of the kind of numbers I get with the Zukes. I had 5 adults and 5 kids aboard with over 230 gallons of gas. In the first pic running @ 4156 RPM, I was going 31.7 MPH, getting 1.53 Nautical MPG, and burning...

    Retracting trim pistons (Yamaha)

Hi Pat, so it seems I’ve been mistaken, and my trim tabs do sit in the water. At least with full tanks of gas. I’ll inspect again when the boat is lighter.

    Retracting trim pistons (Yamaha)

Pat, I won't be able to get to my boat for another week or so (kid commitments) but I'll try and remember to get some picks of how my boat is sitting now. Currently nearly full tanks since the last time out I toped them off to recalibrate the gauges.

    Retracting trim pistons (Yamaha)

The 300s are a big step up from the 225s I had before. Lots or torque and the larger prop makes docking the boat easier. No need for a bow thruster. The drive by wire took a little getting used to, but in a day or two you'll forget what the cable ever felt like. I also like that trim is measured...

    Retracting trim pistons (Yamaha)

Hi Pat, I repowered with DF300s. Trim system sits out of the water, but the front tips of the lowers are still dipped in the water with full trim up. I'd say a couple inches, probably 3" with full tanks of gas.
