    repowering a 2007 Marlin 30

My average load is 3-4 Kids + 4 or 5 Adults, 50% fuel, water tank is topped off frequently, and the boat is loaded with plenty of fishing gear, drinks, ice, etc. I typically cruise between 4,000-4200 RPMs which puts me around 30 MPH, and getting ~1.4-1.6 miles per gallon. Obviously conditions...

    repowering a 2007 Marlin 30

I have 300 Zukes on my 05 Marlin and are running 3/16/8.5 props. I get 5700-5800 RPMs at WOT.

    Holding tank keeps filling

I had a similar problem last year with having to pump out the holding tanks more frequent than previous years. One thing I checked is the ring gasket around the pump out cap. Mine looked a little deteriorated and rain water may have been the culprit. I changed the cap and gasket at the end of...

    Which Freedom 255/275/285

The 19° deadrise has to do with the SeaV2 hull design. The tapering hull angle is what gives the Grady's their soft smooth ride. Very comfortable for off cruising shore.

Medium/Giant Tuna fishing from a 272 New England

Oh and I agree with what I think Smoky was saying. If you're fishing commercially for a living a Grady might not be the best boat for the job. But recreationally, and for fun, you can fish just about anything.

Are twin 225's adequate on 30' Marlin

I had 225s on my Marlin and it ran perfectly fine. Not a rocket ship by any means, but no problem getting the boat up on plane and from point A to B. That said, I did re-power to 300s due to the exhaust corrosion issue. I felt my money was better served not repairing the 225s and 250s/300s are...

    2007 305 Express Outriggers

What ever you use for spacers you want to make sure it's a smooth and close fit with the bolt diameter so it slides right over the threads and the hole you drill is a match to the outer diameter. I used the wedge plates clamped in place as a guide for drilling the holes, and then made the holes...

    2007 305 Express Outriggers

I installed Taco outriggers to my hard top. It's a 2005 so pre welded in supports and balsa core. You'll need the backing plate and I recommend the wedge plate to have them sit level. You'll also need nylon tube spacers for the bolts to run through to avoid compression of the soft core. I found...

GPS screen size for new Freedom 215

I think it's personal preference. I had Lowrance on my previous boat, and I landed there after looking at and playing with several multifunction displays at a boat show. My latest boat came with a Garmin and it was fine. Good maps, great sonar; however the UX wasn't exactly what I was used to. I...

    Headliner Cracks

When I bought my used 2005 in 2018 the headliner had a bunch of cracks and had the dealer repair them before taking delivery as part of the deal. The following spring it had cracks again . I contacted GW directly and they send a couple of guys who repaired them correctly this time...

2003 Grady White Express 33 with Suzuki 350 duoprop

I think more brands than Suzuki has it wrong. It makes sense that ventilation is what is actually happening from over trimming, and cavitation is more related to how fluid the water moves with the prop. It also seems cavitation is mis used extensively. Thanks for the lesson! :)

2003 Grady White Express 33 with Suzuki 350 duoprop

Interesting I've never heard of it being called an anti-ventilation plate before but after a quick search it seems it's called both. In the Suzuki manual it's called an anti-cavitation plate. Anyhow you learn something new everyday.

2003 Grady White Express 33 with Suzuki 350 duoprop

The height of the engines should be set so the anti-cavitation plate is level with the bottom of the hull. I don't think the dual props would change the dynamics of that. I repowered my 05 Marlin with Suzuki 300s, and ended up raising the engines up one bolt from the initial install. This along...
