    Vacuflush Head Help

Thanks, wspitler. I will definitely try cleaning the ball and seal and adding silicone to the seal. I'm familiar to each of the sounds of the vacuum pump, water pump and discharge pump. Currently when I turn on the head switch in the panel I hear the vacuum pump running. I can also hear it...

    Vacuflush Head Help

The system pulls from the fresh water tank. I'm now keeping my water pressure switch off and turning it on only when I need fresh water, to see if I get more time out of the system. It's a little bit of an inconvenience since I use the aft shower quite a bit when I'm fishing and like having the...

Fuel gauge question - what to trust?

On my previous boat I always used the Yamaha fuel consumed/burned meter to let me know how much I have left in the tank(s). As said above, it's accurate within a few gallons depending on how empty the tank is. I currently have a Suzuki set up, and the fuel level senders seem more precise with %...

    Vacuflush Head Help

This is my third season with a Vacuflush Head on a 2005 Marlin. We use it lightly, and the first two years I only had to pump it out at the end of each season. This year I've already had to pump it out 3 times. Couple things I've noticed. First I hear my water pump prime without water use...

    268 Islander info needed

I had a '99 268 Islander. Great boat and had it for 18 years with very few problems. Definitely inspect the transom. Also with twin 200's I'd make sure it isn't over powered; which with a bad transom will decrease the boats safety significantly. Mine had twin 150 two strokes and the scuppers sat...

    Newbie here advise needed

You could also look at the Islander as well. Not as big as the sailfish, but just over 26' and a 8'6" beam makes it more trailer friendly.

Difference between 1995 and 1996 Islander

I had a 1999 Islander and it had a stepped transom, so I think you're right.

bad bow steer after motor upgrade

I'm having what seems to be the same senario. Here's my post about it: https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/300-marlin-repower-with-suzuki-300s.28018/ Anyhow, since my original post, I've move the engines up one bolt during the 20 hour service. They said the anti-cavitation was about an 1/8"...

Suzuki 250s on an older marlin?

I just repowered my ‘05 Marlin with Suzuki 300s. Great engines and I made my decision based on what’s already posted above. Working on getting them dialed in a bit more, but happier going with the Zuke’s over Yamaha or Merc. They also tie into Simrad/Navico products really well.

Repowering my 2001 265 Express need recommendations.

I had a 268 Islander with twin 150s. One of my favorite boats. I prefer twin engines over one for a couple of reasons. 1. If one engine fails you can limp back with one. 2. Navigating/docking the boat is easier. 300 hp on that boat is plenty and with twin 150s the weight on the transom is...

Starting to regret buying this boat

The batteries don't need to be put on both to charge. They can be off. The AC Main switch must be turned on as well as the battery charger switch. The best way to know the batteries are charging is to look at the chargers and see they are lit either red (charging) or green (fully charged)...

Installer recommendations for Simrad electronics on LI

I would agree and would do only what you're comfortable with. I replaced and installed new electronics on my previous 268 Islander, but had a pro install the through hull transducer. When it comes to putting a hole in the hull, I felt better leaving it to the experienced and insured. Once in I...

    Marlin w/w fluid tank

My 2005 Marlin's is supplied by the fresh water tank. Last year I heard my water pump prime every few minutes or so indicating a leak in the system. The line connecting to the windshield washer was the culprit.

Installer recommendations for Simrad electronics on LI

Not sure where you're located but, John Byrnes at Shinnecock Electronics does great work. Installed 2 NSS12 Evo3s, Halo 24 radar on a pedestal, 3D structure scan, chirp through hull sonar, precision 9 compass, and will be doing my auto pilot next season.

Canyon 336- anyone know what this is?

I always thought they are places to mount the fire extinguishers. Put the but of the tank in the hole and attach the collar bracket above. But this gets in the way of anything long you want to hang under the gunnel. Downrigging ball makes a lot more sense LOL.

300 Marlin repower with Suzuki 300s

Thanks, I typically cruise between 3800-4200 and sometimes bump up to 4500. WOT is close to 5700 with a light load. Every Grady I've had after the 20' Overnighter powered through small wake and chop including this one. The 20' even did an amazing job for its size. I haven't cruised with the...

300 Marlin repower with Suzuki 300s

To my understanding, I've only gained 112 lbs with the engines. Currently my main tank is less then half and the auxilary is nearly empty. However, I've felt this with the main tank full and full load of people (my paint line was sitting about an inch under water and typically sits about an inch...

300 Marlin repower with Suzuki 300s

Yeah, I was expecting the boat to handle better and more efficiently with the new engines. With the added horsepower and torque, larger prop etc, the boat pops right up on plane and can cruise faster with less fuel burn. During the install, my dealer said he was going to play with swapping the...
