What I did on my Summer Vacation

Great pics and it sounds like a great time. Me and another vet use to provide services for the Shackleford ponies. The National Park service watches over them and a trust group provides funds to do certain things. We donated our time. It is really remarkable how those little guys survive on...

    Max HP on 20ft Overnighter?

gw204, I hope that I am wrong and I agree with you in that there is no way a boat like the Overnighter will run that fast. But I did see the numbers. Be willing to swear on the bible over that one. Heck, I'd hate to have to get a set of pilot’s license to drive this thing:lol: . As I recall...

    Max HP on 20ft Overnighter?

Nope...59 knots. The guy who helped me rigg the boat owns his own shop and been around boats all his life. He was running the boat while I was checking things out back at the engine and in the hole. He firewalled the throttle and holy crap did she get -up and go. Once she leveled out I heard...

    Max HP on 20ft Overnighter?

I just re-powered my Overnighter with a 2000 225 OX-66 this past winter. The boat had the orginial '91 175 Yama and it was time to move to fuel injection. I did go with a little larger prop (Merc Mirage) and really like it for docking. At first I was a bit concerned about the added weight of the...

    180 vs 209

Tibeachguy, Nice fish. How far out were you out of Hatteras? F18amec: I have a '91 208. This past weekend I ran out of Littlecreek Naval base over to fishermans's Island. When we got on to the bay had good 2-3 footers and at one point the wind really kicked up as the front passed. The boat...

    Factory Tour

Yep..I'd like to go but gots to work. Hey Average Joe...we need to hook-up (no pun intended) and do some fishing. Getting to be that time of year to hit the bay and I figure 2 singles =s twins if some one needs a tow. HD

    Grady bracket

If I had it to do over again I would leave the foam block out. Instead I'd use an inflatable rubber bladder like to ones used in aircraft fuel cells. The foam does displace water but really doesn't do much if any in the way of floatation. A bladder on the other hand would do both since it...

    Grady bracket

Just got done doing what you are doing. The inside of the bracket had NO paint. Had it powder coated inside and out. Make sure you keep the foam block. HD

Help on Engine Mount Bolt Torques

Update on the engine install and rigging. One word "DONE". The only problem we ran into right off the bat is that we had to raise the engine one hole up. The guy who I helped (We Do it All Marine) took one look and said...nope..got to raise'er by one hole. Bob thanks for putting me in...

    how do you wet sand?

Don't know if this will help...but since corvettes are fiberglass and gelcoat I use a clay bar to get swirls out. Last thing you want to use is sand-paper unless you have to. Last vet i had painted was $5,000. You use the clay bar just like the fine-grit sandpaper and yes the spray bottle with...

North Carolina Ticketing Too Wide Boats

Yep they are. My next door neighbor is a trooper and when this all started happening I asked him what was going on. He said that about 2 years ago the DOT (the guys who run the weigh stations and enforce truck regulations) merged with the troopers (the guys who do speeding tickets..most of...

Help on Engine Mount Bolt Torques

Thanks Guys. The local Grady-White dealer is a Yamaha dealer. So I'll give them first chance to help and buy parts/adaptors from. I would let them do the rigging.....but at $100/hour I would think that with a little guidance I could do the job myself and save the $$ for gas since it is Sooo...

Thanks and an Introduction to TGWC

Hey Brian, you guys did an outstanding job with the meeting the other Sunday. Thanks. Nice gathering of Grady owners. Maybe you can post some pics of members so we can get acquainted with faces. I forgot my pass word into Yahoo. So I had to re-register with a new password and...

Help on Engine Mount Bolt Torques

Alright guys...... First off thanks a bunch for your help on the engine mount bolt torques. I got a lot done this past weekend. Both the Grady-Drive bracket and the engine when on without any problems :D . Got the Grady-Drive bracket on boat this past Friday and sealed with 5200. Sealed...

Help on Engine Mount Bolt Torques

Thanks Guys. From the sounds of it I'll just do the box-end wrench approach. The bolts I have are shorter than the really long bolts that go through the transom. That is because the engine will be on the Grady-Drive bracket. Bob I'll do as you said. I'm just so use to having a specified...

Help on Engine Mount Bolt Torques

Thanks Bob. I just may do the box-end wrench thing. I would rather under torque a bolt then over torque. When you over torque it puts way more stress on the bolt and they will snap without warning and at the worse time. HD

Help on Engine Mount Bolt Torques

Thanks BobP. I have several torque wrenchs. One goes to 400 Ft lb that I use on the farm equipment. The bolts are metric and are suppose to be some really hard steel. I know that most standard fasteners have the marks on the head that help you determine the applications and torque specs...

Help on Engine Mount Bolt Torques

Guys. Now that the weather is warming up I can now mount my transom bracket, engine, and get everything rigged up and ready for the up coming spring and summer fun 8) . Anyone know what the torque specs are for the engine mount bolts? I called my friendly Grady-White service and they said...
