    Radar mounting on hardtop pics

Be careful how high you mount it. In my case, I am hitting trees with it constantly so have to choose carefully what roads I drive on. Anytime you start to get up around 13' or higher, you are high risk for losing or damaging your radar.

    Trailer tires

Damn nice rig! I have family in Richmond area also. Been a long time since I have been there. Go to Lexington/Wilmore at least once per year.

    Trailer tires

Yeah, the Marathon sounds familiar. My rig is so heavy, I have to stay very diligent on tires and hubs. How many years do you go before changing KY? By the way, I am from Lexington originally. I would have never thought to trailer a boat to the coast from there back when I lived in Ky. Those...

    Trailer tires

I re-read Smoky's experience and know Ky tows a lot, so will definitely go with the GY Endurance this time around. I do know GY has the knowledge to build a great trailer tire. Back in 1986, I bought a 20' boat/trailer that had those stupid balloon style tires on the Rolls Axle trailer. Forget...

    Trailer tires

Good to hear that KY! I have been checking reviews and seems some folks having issues with some bulging tires, buts seems most complaints were within the first 200 miles or so. I am pretty sure I will go for the GY's this time as I just found them $50 cheaper on discount tire online. Just need...

    Trailer tires

Well, seems it was time again to face the dreaded tire change! I know they say to change your tires every 4 years. I knew I was close being 3.5 years now on my new tires that came on the trailer. Running this weekend to the coast which is about 165 miles, I made it about 100 of those miles in...

    Boat Cover

Grey, I have same boat, without the tower but with Radar. I make a PVC support from bow to stern and put a 25'x30' tarp over it. By the way, what motors do you have?

    2000 272 Sailfish Motor Size

I have the 252G model with twin 200hp HPDI's and could not or would not want less HP and torque. The performance is outstanding! Out of the hole and on plane very fast, like 3 seconds even with full fuel/load and 49mph top end. I would love to repower, and the only 200hp option out there are...

You could use a laminate instead. I did that on my transom and it has held up great and easy to keep clean.

I wonder more about the UV protection. I recall Epoxy by itself has no UV protection and deteriorates in the sun pretty quickly, but does the varnish have any protection?

    Hatch Latch Replacement

That is the same one for my hatch in cabin. Good find.

    Removing old swim ladder

If you use lag bolts, over time they will loosen, then water will get into core and rot, not including your safety for loose lag bolts while climbing aboard . Hard to imagine can't get to them from underside, but have seen issues like this before. Are there no access hatches/ports near this area...

Need galley faucet for 2006 Sailfish

I replaced mine with a normal bathroom faucet I purchased from Lowes. Like $20 or so. Low cost and have been fine for several years now.

    Sonar interference

Check the MFD settings and make sure they are not too much gain. Maybe verify if set to Auto and then see if it is better.

Stainless vs bronze vs Marelon, SS screws

Not to add any fire more to this thread, but just caught up to it and find lots of comments interesting. One point worth mentioning in my case. When I bought my Grady, my SS trim tabs were corroded through...yep, had holes in them from corrosion. Had to buy new one's as could not stand the...

Replacing thru-hulls with stainless steel - costs?

Agree with Hookup1, always go with metal over any type of plastic. Many boats have sunk due to plastics failures. Marelon is tough, but not best choice. When I purchased my Grady used, 2 though hulls, original from factory that were plastic were cracked. One above line was also cracked and...
