The Minimum recommendation for power *in 1993* was 200 HP. Might want to re-check, what I'm seeing (Grady brochures) is 280 both years. I have a earlier Tournament 22 of similar weight, with a 225 Honda. It is NOT too much horsepower ...

I trim the motor for max RPM under conditions, then drop tabs for the ride, if needed at all. I did some comparisons and on my 22' the engine trim is what affects GPH the most. The vent plate (and the prop shaft underneath) is gonna be pretty much parallel to the water at cruise no matter what...

Get a small 'easy-out', drill the bracket screws and remove. Unless the brackets are stainless (zamac is about worthless, nylon is pretty weak), that's what I would replace with. That, and some preventive maintenance ... :wink:

I broke my valve also, ordered a replacement and it was so tight it was just a matter of time until it went. I re-plumbed my washdown/baitwell to include this Groco bronze valve. Mounted mine on the interior bulkhead just under the port hatch lip, similar to this. Handle works in a horizontal...

The remote arm busted on the seacock and I need to gain access to the bilge pump. Ya don't want to restrict access to that important area. Just leave that inadequate livewell out, I'll be glad to buy it ... :wink:

Make sure the numbers you quote are actual capacity and not maximum gross weight trailer rating, one is actual load capacity and one includes the weight of the trailer (about 1K #). Your 228 is gonna gross out near 5k ... :wink:
