    Massachusetts Guys...

She got where she is b/c she's hot and she's got a firecracker personality. Next you're gonna try to say that George W Bush was a brilliant politician. Anyone who thinks she's intelligent is obviously looking at the world from the bottom of the smart-ladder. As usual, "Fox News got it right...

    Massachusetts Guys...

Yeah, "Fox News analyst". Good one! "Authored a book". Another good one! Howabout "used to be governor but decided to quit b/c she obviously didn't care enough about her state as she did for her personal welfare" (see the payment she got for her "book"). Its the...

    Massachusetts Guys...

I was thinking more "simple-minded folks". Anyone who believes global warming is "a myth perpetrated by the liberal elite media" (thanks Sarah "I'm too Dumb to Read" Palin) should be shot from helicopters (thanks again Sarah!). Go tea-baggers!

    Need Your Thoughts-Yamaha Engine Recommendation

I run 100 hours/year, spend approx $1000/year on gas, and it would have taken me 18+ years to recoup the extra $ for the price of an HPDI over the OX66 in fuel economy. Its about 30% better fuel economy. Don't assume you'll get paid back in fuel economy. If, as you say, you use it maybe 50...

Differences between 2 stroke and 4 stroke motors

Here's something to consider. When I bought a 200hp 2-stroke OX66 3 years ago, the price was $6K less than the same hp 4-stroke or HPDI. The fuel economy savings of a 4-stroke over my 2-stroke EFI are approximately 33%. That means each season, when I spend about $1000 in fuel, I could...

    232 transom repair

just cause you got some saturation into one screw hole doesn't mean the transom needs to be replaced. You need to dry out the area and then see if the wood is still strong underneath. It might be an isolated area. I had a water-soaked transom (spots around the kicker mount and the control...

    F-26 Tiger cat

Can you explain what you're basing the statement "This is certainly not the case" on? Looking at each on land?!? Obviously you'd be suspect of advice given by a competitor, but I bet that a few others would say there is a flaw in the design (see my prior comment). "Hull-slap" from waves...

    F-26 Tiger cat

I like the look of them too, but I swear there were posts on here in past years about them and they suffer from the 'slap' of waves coming up between the hulls, which was common in early cats. Grady, instead of changing the hull design like other catamaran builders have since done, discontinued...

    Scupper Hose Replacement

I have an 88 Seafarer. The scuppers are easy to get to via the transom hatches, have to move batteries but otherwise open area. Not sure about your setup. About 5 years ago after I first got the boat I replaced all thru-hull fittings. The original scuppers looked ok, but I put a chisel to...

    PVC under gunnels

Its a conduit for electrical lines from the batteries to the dash and cabin. You cna probably screw some short screws into it w/o a problem, but I'd be careful if the screw end protrudes into the PVC pipe b/c then wires could be rubbing against it.

    Batteries

I use a marine starting battery and a deep cycle, so haven't fooled w/ the dual-purpose battery type. I know that often my DC would have trouble starting my OX66. If you have a 3 batery bank, put a marine starting battery in for one or 2 of them.

    Bottom paint question

I redid my bottom 2 years ago - soda blast, blister repair, barrier coat, ablative paint. I "cleaned" my waterline by bringing the new white barrier coat a few inches above the waterline, then did the bottom paint to the normal line. Looks good. The one poster is correct about you needing...

    Hydraulic Steering

My cylinder was 15 years old and started leaking so I bought the re-seal package and went to undo the shaft and it was frozen solid to the bracket arm. Ended up using a blowtorch and hammer to finally bust it free. Worst part was, my engine went up a year later and I ended up replacing the...

    Hydraulic Steering

no, not really, but you should grease the connections annually. This also includes unhooking the cylinder arms and greasing those connections.

    Yamalube Oil / Ring Free

the owners manual says to use both products, which leads me to believe Yamalube doesn't contain both products. I use both.

Why do I need a bow Pulpit?

Having a bow pulpit allows your marina to charge you an extra 3' of LOA for winter storage..... I certainly like the look of Grady's WITH a pulpit over those without one.
