    Boat Tilt????

That is a light boat with a hard top and uneven weight distributon, not to mention the fish. Some boats have thinner (read cheaper) hulls which makes them light. Then they slap on a normal 200# hardtop on it and people wonder why it rolls. I bet this would not be as extreme in a Grady.

    Need Advice on Seafarer

The engine is probably worth more than the hull at this time. Unless you have a approved set trade-in deal, you're gonna end up spending more $ to do an engine swap. So unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket....i'd keep looking. Maybe a cheaper one with old power.

    Need Advice on Seafarer

just b/c the scupper is below the waterline doesn't = rot, but more likely it = the potential for a hose failure and sinking. I put a new 2003 Yam 200 OX66 on my seafarer 4 years ago. Though the craze is to repower w/ 4-S (and it may be the only alternative in some areas) but some boats are...

    Need Advice on Seafarer

I don't know what that engine weighs but in general the Seafarer doesn't sit well w/ 4-S power. Normally puts the scuppers below the waterline. You will need to have the hull, deck, and transom checked for moisture saturation. If saturated in the transom(which is common), then it may need to...

    Foul Odor In Freshwater System

the sulpher smell probably permeated the plastic tank, so the only way to get rid of it is to get rid of the tank or permeate it with something else (bleach?) by leaving that solution in there for a few months.

    anchor chain

I upped the gauge of the chain and shortened the length for my 228. So I have about 12' of heavy gauge chain made for big boats. 30' seems like a lot, but it all depends on how much it weighs.

    Survey cost, moisture readings, etc

Note the depending on whether you are financing, you may be required to have a survey from a certified marine surveyour, in which case a "boat builder" or "mechanic" will not suffice. My surveyour did a good job, found lots of things I never would have seen, and was worth every penny. It cost...

    help on used boat purchase

Has the hull been surveyed? Maybe you have a saturated transom or hull and you're carrying a lot of water weight. I assume you saw the bottom and that doesn't have growth. Obviously others w/ your boat have gotten 10 extra MPH out of similar engines. Were you in rough water when trialing...

    NOAA Small Craft Advisory Question

I'm pretty certain they say vessels under 20' in legth when they 'explain' a small-craft on the VHF weather channel. Still, some "small-craft" days are ok in the Grady, some of them are better spent at the dock.

Looking at a Tournament 225 - Advise? - Update, Pics added

First off, if you're going to look at a Tournament, don't go buy it and then complain that its not a walkaround! (See "Tournament 275 design flaws" thread) A marine surveyor is not a mechanic. At best you can expect him to do compression test on your cylinders, but he is not a mechanic and...

    SHUT DOWN PROCEDURE

Do you pre-mix oil or is it injected from an external tank in the bilge? I guess this is an older carb'd engine. As far as I know, you don't need to do anything special. You just turn the key. Sounds more like your fuel pump is shot and the engine is only sending oil into the carbs? I...

Design Flaws with 2010 Grady Tournament 275

Sealoft- I respect you for buying a Grady White, however its blatantly obvious that you did not research the boat (or the manufacturer) prior to making your purchase. You buy a split-console, bow-rider style boat and then you say Grady should "make it a walk around which Grady was once...

    YAMAHA OX66 225 Propeller Question

my 228 runs about 5200 WOT w/ a 200 OX66. I normally cruise at 3800-4200 rpms. The manual will say WOT should be 5000-6000 rpms. So I think you're ok. If anything, it wasn't the prop that blew the engine, it was running it WOT!!!

    seafarer sitting low in water

on mine the water is just below the bottom of the scupper. I know people experience scuppers below water line when they put 4-strokes on Gradys. And when I come off plane, i get splash up the back of the cowling. You do want to be careful so you don't suck it up in the air intake, but in...

Low RPM New Prop or Motor Problem

I run my OX66 at about 3900-4200 rpms at cruise, and go 28-30 mph. I CAN push it to WOT and get 5300 rpms, but never run at WOT. Just b/c a boat can achieve max rps doesn't mean you should run it at that level. I can tell from the engine sound when it goes from a purr to a whine....right...
