Conquest Some shameless self promotion here: I have a 265 Express for sale, getting cheaper by the week. You could save enough to buy a trailer, some permits and still have a few years worth of fuel money left If you're interested take a look...

Dumb question-getting on plane in shallow water

Slow down and enjoy the view - when you hit bottom at 20 mph you'll think fuel is cheap.

Doel-Fin Hydrofoil Planing Stabilizer Anyone using them?

My first boat was a 20' Wellcraft I/O with a bad porpoising issue. The addition of the Doel Fin fixed the problem. I also put one on a 13' Whaler w/40HP Johnson - It kept the bow down and added to the top end (not that this boat needs any more speed). Well worth the money IMO.

best way to clean pitted aluminum ?????

Rover I've had great luck with the MAAS paste; especially using an applicator ball in a drill. The paste has jewelers rouge, will polish off corrosion and scale. Follow up with a good liquid wax - like 3M; the pipes will look like new. Works on alum, stainless and plastic (although I...

Follow-Up Queston for the GW Owners Who Tow

Rollers do need some occasional upkeep, but nothing worse than tying to push a boat off of bunks if the water is too low to float off. Aluminum all the way if you can get do it

thickness of starboard for flushmounting electronics

Thanks Charlie The helm area was done by an electronics installer before I bought the boat. I re-did the overhead area to remove the radar - It now goes on the bracket to the right of the helm. I found the overhead radar to be a terrible distraction when running in the fog - having to...

thickness of starboard for flushmounting electronics

Charlie My 265 Express has the overhead compartment and the helm area both done with 1/4 starboard - works out fine. I think 1/2" would be too thick

REPOWER QUESTION FOR AN OFFSHORE 24

Mike175 I had a 92 24ft explorer - similar to your Offshore. It had a carburated 200HP Yamaha that I replaced with a 200 Yamaha HPDI I was perfectly happy with the horsepower - even with 4-5 guys on board with a full load of fishing equipment. I don't think you would have any regrets...

    Aluminum cleaner/restorer/polish

Try the MAAS paste using a foam applicator ball in an electric drill. Use the polishing cream, here's the link: http://www.maasinc.com/products.asp I've used this for years and its the absolute best. It has a jewelers rouge compound and it will clean up anything. . Follow up with a...

Pete Try McMaster Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/ They have just about any kind of neoprene or foam gasketing, plus just about any other kind of item you need. They're great for stainless hardware. Type in what you need in the search and you'll find it.

Had nothing but trouble with Guest - absolute pure junk - wouldn't put another in if it was free. Charles is a good charger in industrial application - I've never used in a boat.

    Boat Show Prices

Interesting to read here how the prices are going. Any other time I would agree that higher prices on new boats serve to help the used boat market - but not now. I 've been trying to sell a perfect 265 Express and all the broker says is drop your price. If it gets any cheaper the Bayliner...
