    265 Propellers

I am looking into purchasing new props for my 265 express. I am running F225's. I currently have Yamaha 3 bladed props, my fuel numbers are ok, but I am looking to improve my fuel efficiency at cruise and maybe have a slightly faster cruise speed if possible. I am not concerned with top end...

    Group 27 Batteries in a 265 ?

I added group 27's. In a post last year of my 2009 upgrades I have pictures of the 27's intsalled. I put in electro batteries and they crank over without a problem and I've had 0 problems. You will need to modify one of the battery trays on the stbd side to fit. You will need to cut a notch...

    265 Express

Called Grady directly to order backrests they said it cannot be done. I looked into it, it can be done but is a pain to get access and would require some expensive /custom tools to reach the locations to actually bolt in the recepticals for the backrest itself. If you know someone with a good...

    265 Express

enclosure down!!! you can put it up but will feel the air in your face. I'm making a quick solution...removing the roll up straps and adding a zipper where the plastic and canvas material meet, unzipper it and you have a wind vent for air, but its high so no spray to enter and no wind in the...

    Underwater lights anyone?

Tabs lights are ok because they reduce drilling into the hull, but these lights are also prone to more abuse, and some grady models with integrated/tucked tabs cannot use them. Personally there is nothing wrong with drilling holes into a transom if done properly and sealed. If your unsure...

    Underwater lights anyone?

everyone in my marine with coastal night lights hate them!!! They get covered in growth fast and do not clean well. He has been good with replacing them,, but they should not need to be replaced. Also, lots of LED's burning out. Had a friend have his first set go bad, ordered and paid for...

    help planning NY boat show

NY waterways is the way to go, will drop you off on the W side of the Javits center, 1 block walk. I usually take the ferry from Wehawkin across and make the 1 block walk around the Javits Center, for me its the fastest way there.

    New Yamaha 4 strokes

If that F300 V6 is as reliable as the other four strokes from Yamaha that thing will be a beast!! It has the right weight and power and has some awesome performance numbers. Would be a great engine for a 330 Express or even a 30 express or marlin.

    Boat Sank

If there is air in a composite transom its junk, if paid up correct they are great, but air pockets allow it to vibrate and beat the insides to dust making it worthless and having little strength. Its scary not knowing how your boat was built, you trust the builder that is was done right but...

    Frozen Outriggers

PB Blaster is the best for getting things unstuck...it got our salt spreaders at work which were left caked in salt all summer freed up. It is a must around a boat, if that doesn't work junk them!!! I would not heat them, it will break the coating off at the very least and leave them to...

    265 Express

Fishing fintastic....find a 33 with old power and repower with V6 300's...awesome power and fuel efficiency, thats the right power package and you'd have new engines. Find a good shape high hour boat for cheaper. As for the 265, ask away. I fish 40-45 trips a year, as a fishing boat its...

    Custom Winter Cover

Bob, thanks for the tip. I was told the topgun material allows snow and ice to slip off easily, and there is not much of a belly at all, it is very tight and has a good angle, but after the first snowfall I am going to go down anyways to see if it does what my canvas guy claims. Also it will...

    Custom Winter Cover

Would love to see the picks of the bolsters when done, I may need to redo mine, that was the only thing the previous owners did not take great care of and showed some wear. We have maintained them to stay like they were when we bought the boat, but the corners are wearing through a little and...

    Custom Winter Cover

Yeah I thought about that but nobody in my marina has had that issue that I talked to. I like the air flow in there, unlike shrink wrap which suffocates a boat and isn't exactly the best for it. It would be pretty hard for most things to climb in, almost nothing but smooth surfaces to climb on.

    Custom Winter Cover

Had a custom winter cover made for my 265 Express. We got tired of wasting money on shrink wrap so this is what we came up with. The canvas was made of Top-Gun material and is super strong!! We used the existing enclosure track from the hardtop and used the same snaps for my enclosure along...

    winter snow

Shrink wrap is a waste of money, in the end you tear it up and throw it away. It is not cheap, and unless you have it done extremely well, it will hold moisture in and will form mildew. You really have to remove all electronics for sure, and all side curtains, but that should be done...

    Offshore 24 Hard top

I would not recommend a pre-fabbed hardtop for a boat ever, they never fit well. Have a custom one built for your boat, on the boat itself, not in a shop them assembled, no boat is perfectly symetrical no matter how hard you look so building it on site is necessary. Where are you located...

    Motor won't trim down

Could be the trim soldenoid switch, on my HPDI we had this happen, would trim one direction but not the other. Made a clicking sound when going the way it would not move, no motor running, but worked the oposite direction. Might be this if all else fails, very quick swap out but not a cheap part.

    Baitwell & S/W Wash Winterization

You only need enough of the RV/marine antifreeze to fill your lines once you turn them on, and then have some remain in the tanks, you do not need a lot to fill it if no water is in there. My hot water heater has never been used, I open the sea cocks 1/2 way as well for the winter. During the...

how much water to expect in bilge

I'd check all of your hoses first to make sure none are dry rotting or hard as a rock, if they are replace them they will fail. Also check all clamps, when possible double clamp ALL hoses in a boat, most builders do not, but should be doing so. You should check hoses atl;east once a season as...
