    1999 Grady 272 Stringer Question

I agree with Hookup. That is very similar to the way my 94 Sailfish looked. Once opened up, the transom was mostly mush and the end of the stringers were very wet as well.

    1996 272 Sailfish running F 225’s

She had 200 gals of fuel and 30 gals of fresh water in the tanks. And I carry 4 batteries in the stern.

    1996 272 Sailfish running F 225’s

I repowered my 1994 27 Sailfish in 2021. Went with the new Mercury 225 V6's. According to Grady White that was my only option for our style of hull (not extended). I have thoroughly enjoyed them. They are super quiet. Push the boat extremely well and do well on fuel mileage.

    Purchase of 2004 Sailfish

How do you plan on performing your 100 hr. service on the engines? That will be very important to maintaining the engine warranty. Changing the oil is doable in the water but the lower unit grease is dang near impossible. By the way, I have a 94 Sailfish and absolutely love it. Good luck with...

    Transom Failure Incidents

I agree with Glacierbaze. You may not have a problem now...but it ain't far down the road. Do you have access covers that will allow you to snap some pics of the inside of the transom? I'd love to see them.

    Transom Failure Incidents

The only stringer that was compromised was the middle one. As you see in this pic, it was completely removed and replaced with Coosa board as was the transom. The other stringers were stripped of any loose fiberglass and re-glassed and sistered with Coosa board as well. Unfortunately, I don't...

    Transom Failure Incidents

Repowered my 94 Sailfish in May 2021 with Mercury 225's, V6's. Had the original Yami 200 smokers prior. About three weeks after the repower, the mate told me he noticed the transom flexing back and forth over an inch while crossing small wakes in the no wake zone. I verified the movement the...

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

I would suggest that during the off season that you get that girl a proper cleaning (maybe even down to the glass) and some antifoulant paint on it before next season. I'm in brackish water and I can get away with new bottom every other year. Best of luck in the future.

    The insulated coolers work great!

Congratulations on the success with your inboard coolers. Mine doesn't do quite that well. Might want to ease up on the kool-aid though. Just kidding;)

    Is this normal 03 282

Your forward bilge shouldn't let the water build up enough to cover the false floor/shelf. I have that same shelf which is where the holding tank for the head resides.

    Transom Issues

Here are some tale tell things to look for. If you can gain access to the transom via access holes or panels, let your cell phone be your eyes. Notice the rusty water leaking at the mounting bolts and cracked mat around the as well.

    Discharge Overboard?

You are correct...the thru hull is under the forward trailer bunk.

    Cockpit Scupper Access

If you boat is pre 2004 and has a live well in the transom (port side), it is fairly easy to remove and access the scuppers and drains from there. I'm not the biggest fella in the world and it worked for me . Access hole on the starboard side is about the best you can do.

    interior rod holders

Check out these guys. They do a lot of pieces for the GW factory. They have duplicated a couple of pieces for my '94 Sailfish. They may be able to make a set for you. Fin-Addict Marine Inc. 402 W Martin St, Benson, NC 27504 (919) 989-6813

    Fuel Fill Hoses...Who's Changed Theirs?

The problem occurs when I top off the tanks. As a full time charter boat, this is almost a daily occurrence. It is also more prevalent when I top off the 52 gal. reserve tank as apposed to the 150 gal. main tank. I have not seen any obvious leeks from the tanks or sender flanges. The smell...

    Fuel Fill Hoses...Who's Changed Theirs?

Unfortunately, I cannot see the full routing. They leave the tank and go through the stringer adjacent to the tank, then I can locate the filler end by removing a bulkhead in the rear berth under the bridge.
