I'm not real familiar with the islander but on my 27 sailfish the ac unit is mounted behind the fridge, so there is room for both.

This is what is should like from the other side. I believe there is a drain in the motor well that is plumbed to the trim tab recess.

So, looking to move from my 272 to a Marlin. Can't afford a newer model so looking at anything from 2004 to 2012. Some have gensets others don't. Some had them and then removed but wiring and plumbing remain. As this will be used as a charter boat, I really want an operable genset. How hard...

Just had the exact same thing happen to me. Mine was 94 two stroke but non the less the same parts involved. It's a pretty straight forward fix once you have replacement parts in hand. Youtube is your friend. Several good videos on changing these seals.

Here's how mine are configured. The tubes are just welded to a tube that is bent to follow the line of the hardtop. Three flanges are welded to the tube and are through bolted in the hardtop. See attached pics.

It did make it tight in the cockpit. Add a larger cooler for fish box and any more than four people in the back of the boat was difficult. I have since removed the chair. I use beanbag chairs for the clients to ride out and in on and they go on the bow while fishing. Makes fishing a lot easier.

There is a 1/2" aluminum plate mounted into the underside of the deck cover. Through bolted with three screws so taking it in and out...not an option.

There was a battle station in mine when I bougjt it but changed that over to chair. You can see it in the pic below.

Congratulations on the new to you ride. I have a 94 model and yes I too have one of those little boggers broken. Don't miss it much to you start running into a head sea and you pound a time or two. They at least keep the switch covers from flapping. I'll be following to see if anyone might...
