I have a 1990 Overnighter and am happy with my Suzuki DF175 (4th full season). Can go ~35mph (2 people; gear and 40 gals of gas). Engine weight is 481 lbs, my scuppers sit halfway in the water at the dock.

As far as the engine type goes I will second the positive experience with the Suzuki DF175. I have been very pleased with my DF175 (single on my 1990 Overnighter). It was installed in 2008 in the CT area & my dealer is one town away. Good luck with your re-power.

repower overnighter I have a Suzuki 4-stroke DF 175 on a 1990 Overnighter. Good power, weight is 485 lbs. With a full tank of gas my scuppers sit about 1/2 way submerged. If I stand in either corner of the stern a tiny bit of water will come in.
