Towing a Gulfstream with a Tacoma

Wow....not really a good idea. I tow my 208 every weekend with the same Tacoma 4x4, dont get me wrong it is a helluva truck but it will not be happy with a 232 behind it. My boat loaded is right under 6k lbs and the truck has no problem with it but I would go no larger without upgrading the...

    Adding battery charger?

Do it, for what they cost it is the best money spent.

    Electric reel power....

I also have an electramate, the plug is a hubbel 15amp 3-prong. This company in miami has great deals and is very good to deal with, here is the link if you want to hardwire a setup. http://www.rivermarinesupply.com/xcart/ ... t=0&page=1 I have a dual battery setup where only one battery is...

Need Advice - Yamaha 2-Stroke Issue

The OP was referring to the carb'd version of the 1998 SWSII, I have the same engine. OX66 came later. Coincidentally I had/have the same issue. I used "dunks" seafoam decarb method with good results, the idle improved and the engine runs smoother. With that being said the engine will still...

    Propane Grills

My magma grill hasn't left the boat in months, used twice last weekend. The biggest hazard is the whole grill will get white-hot, be careful when rafted up or when there are children around. Other than that the thing is sweeeeeeeeeeet.

Towing GW Adventure 208 with Ford Explorer?

I tow mine heavy (hardtop, full fuel, a weeks worth of gear) with an 05' Tacoma v6 4x4, it handles the weight better than my full size ram did. Mileage is somewhere between bad and even worse, but I have seen 13-14mpg @ 65mph. 4x4 is not a necessity but a welcome attribute on a steep, slimy...

    Racor Water Seperating Filters

When you replace the filter and pump the bulb (a little longer than usual) you are filling the filter. I wouldnt try and prime the lines with any empty filter using the engine choke, the bulb works great.

    My new Grady.

Great boat, looks familiar. Those electronics are very good at what they do. The sonar (when matched with a quality transducer) is an excellent unit. That GP-32 was basically the industry standard for plain gps units a decade ago and is accurate. I have owned both and not had a problem with...

    New Guy Questions

For anchoring check out the fortress fx-7, that anchor with 8 feet of HEAVY stainless or galvanized chain will be more than sufficient. I have 3/8 rope on my backup anchor and never had a problem with it other than the thicker rope is easier to man-handle without a windlass. The big upside is...

    Adventure 208 Speaker Placement

I dont have pictures but if you are sitting in the helm chairs they are mounted to the cabin bulkhead as far outward from the center of the boat as possible as possible. You can see them if you crouch down but not when standing or seated in the helm chairs. The face diagonally back towards the...

    208 vs 228

Yes, and definitely with a group. Heading over again on the 26th to West End from Palm Beach ~68 miles. If we dont get a good weather window i'll either be on a friends bigger boat or in the keys. Got any immediate plans to make the trip?

    Adventure 208 Speaker Placement

If you search "208 stereo" there is a few pictures of different placements in the 208. There is room for shallow 6-1/2" speakers on the rear side of the seat pedestal boxes and the same on the inside of the gunnels in the cockpit. For best sound at the helm you can find good quality enclosed...

    208 vs 228

Satisfied 208 owner here. I fished this past winter sailfish season in some conditions that my old 21 contender would not have survived in. With a hardtop and 3 sided enclosure the protection from the elements is excellent for 3 anglers. Some people think the cabin is a waste but i have...

Question for the South East Florida Folks

I know some believe the grady is not a target but..... http://forums.floridasportsman.com/foru ... ght-lucaya 27' Grady CC with twin F150's was just stolen from Lucaya (not a cuddy, but not far from it) I believe that thanks to the economy and less recreational boat traffic in the...

Question for the South East Florida Folks

Two separate issues: 1. Your truck getting stolen at whatever ramp you leave it at in fl 2. your boat getting stolen in the bahamas and used for drug and human smuggling But the Bahamas is sweet, I'm addicted thus the risk is worth the reward. Ps yamahas can be started with no key...

Question for the South East Florida Folks

Haven't made it over this summer to Lucaya yet (just Treasure, Spanish, Marsh, Guana, Green Turtle......not on the 208) but stayed there many times. Usually we rent a private townhouse/condo if the group is big enough but with just a couple people for a few nights the Port Lucaya Resort &...

    Leaving boat in water....

I take mine down to the keys twice every year, for 8 days at a time. If your in clean moving water (near the oceanside) you wont have a problem at all. If your deep in a canal on the gulfside you may see a waterline after 3 or 4 days. Easy enough to wipe off at the sandbar or while diving...

    Battery Charger: Prosport 12....Installed

Thanks for the response, this does make sense and the leads are connected directly to the batteries. Sounds like it makes no difference since I alternate which battery is used for everything each time I put the boat in. At the end of each trip only one battery is partially discharged and one...
