What HP would you RePower 99 209 Escape?

Yup... What he said. The 200 HPDI is absolutely the best motor for your boat.

    Separating the Hull?

I think bobp is right, you'll need to build some type of cradle to keep the hull from distorting. I really have no idea about anything else... I've just seen other makes of boats apart and the hull has always been in a cradle. I'm very interested in your project... please post photos as you...

Docking Question ? Anybody use a wood Plank to get on Boat?

You might want to consider an aluminum scaffold plank. They are very light so it'd be easy to deploy. They also have a non-skid surface. You'd just have to do a little work on the boat end so it won't scratch the gel-coat... might even be able to add some hinges to the dock end to keep it in...

    Good Johnson Mechanic

PM sent to you... But in the meantime, what was the engine doing? Those Johnsons are pretty simple to work on. I've always found that 90% of engine problems are fuel related. Do you have dual fuel filters? Might want to start there. Lots of good info on this board... describe the...

Which is more powerful? Interstrip or PeelAway

$1200 will buy some nice goodies for the boat. I was able to do the whole bottom on saturday and sunday. Pulled it off the trailer on Friday, scraped on saturday, painted on Sunday. Put it back on the trailer on Monday afternoon. Wish I had cleaned the old black paint makrs off the...

Which is more powerful? Interstrip or PeelAway

It did turn out really well... makes it look like a whole new boat. It's a long path, but most of it is pretty fun. There's always someone on this board who is one step ahead of you. I've been well advised on just about everything I've done.

Which is more powerful? Interstrip or PeelAway

I used interstrip and was fairly impressed. At first i thought i'd coat it, wait for a while then scrape. Didn't work too well. The trick is to coat it, wait for just a few minutes for it to soak in, but not long enough for it to dry, then coat it one more time, and scrape. It'll peel off...

    Fish Box Drain Fitting

I'd rather not have the screen. It just gets clogged with scales and other junk. I'd prefer all that stuff goes overboard. The old fitting had an X in the bottom of it... I was constantly pulling all kinds of nasty crap out of there. Also, I like to plug the hole to hold water in the well...

    Fish Box Drain Fitting

James, Yes, it's the fitting you mentioned... just need to cut the shoulder down in height and cut off the hose barbs. The only elbow i used was the existing grey one that you showed in your photo's. In the old post i showed a photo of a new drain i was consicering... I think that's what...

    Fish Box Drain Fitting

James, I looked at my drains today... you actually want to cut the top of the fitting off down to the point where you still have a little of the 2 indentations remaining. If you cut further than that, you'll have no shoulder left on the thru-hull at all. Basically, you're shooting for the...

    Fish Box Drain Fitting

I just went through the exact same thing. Might as well stop looking... the company that made those is out of business. Here's what i did and it works great. Buy a Perko Acetal thru-hull fitting, this one... http://gator49.hostgator.com/~zeromyst/ ... cts_id=415 Put it on some wood...

Help finding replacement fittings for 86 Overnighter

I haven't tried the flat-head thru-hulls... haven't been able to find one on the self or find a diagram of one. I believe that they are tapered on the underside... just not sure. I think they are for being countersunk into a hull which would lead me to believe they are tapered. I'm not too...

Help finding replacement fittings for 86 Overnighter

Help finding replacement fittings for 86 Overnighter

Thanks Bob. I did see both of those fittings in the store. The problem with them is that the fiberglass at the bottom of the well is so thin, and the angle of the shoulder on the thru-hull us so steep, that I'm afraid if I try to countersink the drain in so that it's flush, I'll have very...

Help finding replacement fittings for 86 Overnighter

It's pretty much a standard sink drain, but with a hose outlet. All the metals are stainless... but i have no idea what the remainder of the parts are. Does look like a lot of parts. I was poking around in there last night... I had one finger in the drain hole trying to feel around to see...
