    Color Match

I used Petit 3108 Off White when I re-built my pulpit. Lucked out, almost perfect match (but suggest you re-confirm for yours). http://www.pettitpaint.com/fileshare/te ... orcard.pdf

    fuel fill hose changeout

Agreed; I didn't get 20 out of mine (I added gas prior to launching and one could smell the gas). Pulled the fuel fill hoses and they both were cracked right where they took the bends...

    Fuel Line Replacement Advice?

Fuel Lines When I did my 232, I had to lift the floor plate as the hoses were clamped every 24" or so. No way to pull through. "Toughest part" was cutting the caulking on the floor plate and then re-sealing (i.e. not that tough at all).

    fuel fill hose changeout

Fuel Fill hoses When I did my Gulfstream, they had caulked the hoses where they went thru 2 bulkheads under the sole (under the drivers' seat) and they were brutal to get out. I connected the new fuel fill hose to the old (used a plug, electrical tape and plastic ties to keep together) and...

    Rain X on Windshield?

It does work; only thing is it needs to constantly be re-done or the windshield gets real streaky and hard to see out of.

Crack in pulpit - need fiberglass person (OC MD)

Pulpit Hope you have better luck than me...2 guys who did warranty work on MA area GWs wouldn't touch mine. Seems on the 23' Gulfstream, GW supposedly made a 2 piece mold, sprayed gelcoat, clamped together and pumped the middle with 'who knows what'. Issue is gelcoat cracked and replacement...

    Tilt Motor Replacement

PTT Replaced my PTT motor on my 1988 Yamaha 150hp and it was a *itch even out of the water. 3 bolts held it down; the one behind the motor itself was the trouble. No way I could have done it in the water.

Live Well Pump on 23 Gulfstream

LiveWell No; my livewell/washdown pump (Johnson) is under the port seat pedestal as I mentioned. The freshwater pump for cabin sink is mounted in the f/w tank and is below the livewell pump . I do not have gunnel-mounted f/w on my Gulfstream.

Live Well Pump on 23 Gulfstream

Check Forgot one thing-do a voltage check and see if its the pump or the wiring. As wires get older, corrosion builds up till its not delivering a full 12 volts at the pump. Easy to do-pull pump out and connect to a battery (note + and - terminals).

Live Well Pump on 23 Gulfstream

GW Livewell pump My Gulfstream, albeit a couple years older, livewell pump is located under the passenger seat (take out drawers and bottom wood plate). You'll see it right there. Mine was a Johnson pump and pretty easy to replace.

1986 Sailfish Fuel Fill Line replacement

Fuel fill replacement Can't speak to the Sailfish but when I did my 1988 23' Gulfstream I did end up finding a split where the fuel fill hoses turned up towards the gunnel. I removed from the tanks (2 of them) and taped/zip-tied the replacement fuel fill hoses and pulled up towards the gunnel...

    Transducer Paint

MDR makes a paint specifically for transducers. West Marine and others sell it. Supposedly, it won't melt or ruin the plastic. Used it last year on my new Airmar/Furuno transducer and it failed miserably. This year I will use regular ablative paint since I have that MDR already on it as...

    Ethanol

When MBTE and ethanol mix, they do make a reddish color gel which clogs the fuel separators, along with a lot of silt, water and yellow alcohol 'whatever'. I learned the hard way-fuel stations here made the switch without labeling the pumps until later. I ended up changing the filters 3 times...

    Cabin rod storage

Rod Storage Hmmm, I was told years ago that one can never have too many fishing rods...anyways, I do have the GW folding, port-side rod holders in my 23' Gulfstream and love them. Hold 6 rods but you can double them up, depending on the setup. Easy to get to, they don't tangle (handle 7' rods...

    bottom paint

I use black ablative West Marine CPP with great results (brackish saltwater).

    Gulfstream Pumps

On my '88 Gulfstream, both the freshwater and raw water pumps are under the port seat. Access by taking the drawers out under the seat. Freshwater pump is, as mentioned, in the tank; washdown pump just behind it.

    What Actually Happens

Gas Take it from one who has been there, done that (when my state switched over to E-10 and my station did not label the tanks till a week later)-burn it up now before it sits too long. The longer it sits, the more it gels/scours the tank and the more problems you will have. I'd run/burn it all...

replacing fuel filler hoses on a 1988 sailfish

Fuel fill hoses Mine were siliconed in where they went thru the bulkheads. Once they were free, it wasn't bad other than had to cut an access hatch in the walkthru side to access grounding wires and clamps.

What Size Bolts to use on Mounting a Bow Pulpit?

Pulpit Just took mine off a 23' Gulfstream to have some repairs done. 4 3/8" bolts (w/nylock nuts) with 3/16" hard aluminum fender washers (2.5" dia), plus 8 size 10 ss bolts (4 each side). The eye ring/bit also threads on to the tierod thru the pulpit as well.
