Thanks Mr. BobP Wow I finished running the vent hose today! Man am I glad this is done. The vent hose I replaced was 5/8" but the outside dia. was larger than the hose I replaced . Bob the stringer next to the aux. tank was not the problem because I could file it out a little and push the hose...

    Gas vent hose replacement

cg it sounds as if you too had tons of fun with replaceing the hose also. I pulled the deck access panels and pulled my main tank vent hose without much trouble but the aux. tank is another thing all together. I filed the hole a little larger to get the hose through but could not get it to make...

    Gas vent hose replacement

Thanks Matt Since my last post I have started cutting an access hole in front of the helm chair and hope I will be able to access the location I need. I've got to get a 6in deck plate before I cut my hole to size. I have tried everything to get that hose to make the turn. Hope to get back to...

    Gas vent hose replacement

I am in the process of replaceing fuel vent hoses on my 1996 Voyager. I had to pull the access hatches in order to file the holes larger because the new vent hose is a fraction larger than orig. ones. I'm haveing a little trouble with aux. tank hose. Any suggestions would be welcome.

    fuel cap "O" ring

Go to a local auto parts store. Most have a box of assorted O-rings.I replaced both of mine about a year ago for less than $2.00 and no headach of ordering. Yes they are very important. You dont want water getting into your tank around missing O-rings.

    Battery Drain

I don't know much about the Perko switch but I thought in the off posistion no current would pass to the field side "simply stated not the battery side of the switch". I would think that if you have battery drain there would have to be somthing hooked directly to the battery and not through the...

    2004 Sailfish Hydraulic Steering Question

I would make sure the cap is vented before I would change any seals. I went through this about a 18 months ago and replaced the seals just to find out I still had a leak. Turnes out the vented cap was plugged building pressure and forceing the fluid out. Bought a new cap and problem solved.

    '97 Gulfstream Livewell pump replacement

Good to hear you made out better than I did! I could not save my shut off valve. I even tried to burn it out and couldn't without destroying the valve. Good luck this weekend. Maybe you will get several Mac attacks.

    '97 Gulfstream Livewell pump replacement

My rule pump was screwed into the brass shutoff valve and grady or someone at a later date had used 5200 instead of teflon tape or pipejoint putty. I had to replace the brass shutoff valve and the pump on my voyager. :(

Request for advice - older used

I own a 1996 Voyager and go what I call offshore 20 to 40 miles. That said, I don't go if weather is bad or looks to turn bad. I watch the weather reports and will add XM weather overlay before my next trip. Maybe others on here will advise yourself and me if I should not be making these trips...

    1996 248 Voyager

I have a 1996 Voyager with the same motor. I don't have any trouble with the power on my voyager as it does everything I need. That 2 stroke is strong! The only problem I have is the fuel consumption. The newer outboards get much better numbers. That said I love my voyager and the layout for...

    steering?

Yankee please don't judge the site by the smart a-- postings of a few. There are some great people on this site and some are very helpful and some maybe not. There's quite a few on here that want to help fellow grady owners and some stir the pot and I say to them if you don't have a helpful...

    steering?

Check the cap where you add fluid. you should be able to blow threw it, if you can't replace it because when your boat is in the sun the heat build up causes pressure and the seal will leak. I replaced the seals on my voyager and it still leaked when hot so I found the cap clogged and replaced...

Buying a used propeller - how to check - advice, please

Prop should be fine. Now if it runs smooth, with no viberation, you get the desired performance "rpm, planeing ability, speed and ect." you should be good to go provided the price is right. Just make sure it works for your boat under the normal load which you will be useing.

Need help finding correct fuel cap o-ring

I took my old O-ring to an auto parts store and they matched it up. If you don't have the old ring measure across and they still should be able to match it up. Auto parts stores have an assortment of these.
