Looking to move my Grady to Flordia ?

Re: Looking to move my Grady to Florida ? My summer home is on a bayou in Pass Christian, MS and I wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world (well maybe we could deal a little). There is nothing better than climbing out of the bed, stepping out to the dock and lowering the boat into the...

Bilge Switch Light (High Water Alarm?)

That would definitely get my attention, and probably have me jump out of the boat when it went off. I might install this as a backup to the LED warning lights. I would install it about 6 inches above the float switch. My primary system will be a little more sedate. It will not necessarily...

Bilge Switch Light (High Water Alarm?)

That was me that was going to put the LED's on the dash. I am still going to do it but am waiting until February when it warms up down here. I plan to take pictures and post them when I do it.

Grady CAPSIZES Saturday 12/30 in the Chesapeake

I'm glad that nobody was injured or hurt. Trying to guess if the boat could have been saved and the steps that could have been taken is good if used as a learning experience for all of us however the Captain did the right thing in saving the crew. Everything else can be reduced to dollars and...

    1990 Overnighter, bad news?

I agree with Curmudgeon, those are not "stress cracks". Those look like movement cracks that go deeper than just the gel coat. And, if you are getting movement there, you have a problem with the transom. Plan on spending a lot of money and/or sweat on this boat after you buy it.

    228 Seafarer Shade Ideas

I did the same thing. I used two 8 ft. X 3/4 inch dowels in the rear rod holders. I pre-drilled and screwed ring screws in each end and ran ropes from the rings to the rear transom and to the hardtop and tightened everything up. I got a cheap 12ft X 12ft. tarp and duct-taped it to the hard...

    How much gas?

There is not enough information for anyone to guess unless they have the exact same rig and know how many times you need to get on a plane, how fast you intend to go and what the sea and load conditions are. Best guess, since not all gas you put in the tank is usable, I would put 10 gallons in...

    Considering a 1991 Overnighter?

My first Grady was a 1985 overnighter. I loved the boat and kept it 12 years. I sold it because I needed a boat with a little more room. Have the engine and hull checked out. You didn't mention the size of type of motor it has. You will need at least a 175,

    Whimpy Horn on 360 express...help

The horn on the 283 Release I got this year is wimpy also. I have a new one that I plan to install on the hard top this winter. The only person that can really hear the factory installed horn is the person(s) sitting on the seat in front of the horn on the center console and it scares the heck...

    Another Positive Grady experience!

Nothing else matters: Below is the list of parts that I got from Clyde at Baert Marine. The total comes to around $240, including some sales tax that I do not think I would have to pay if they are shipping out of state. I have his exact estimate that is much clearer and easier to understand I...

    Ethanol Fuel Problems

Yes, I am. Also, once I fill up, I doubt this fuel will sit in the tank long. After three months of sitting in a warehouse, this boat and I are going to spend a lot of time together on the water.

    Ethanol Fuel Problems

I hope that GWTOUR275 is right. The marina where I usually purchase my gas only provides alcohol free gas. 99% of my fuel needs are handled there. However, on the way back to launch my boat in February, I will pass 30 gas stations that sell alcohol laced gas for .80/gal less than the marina...

    lost 1 engine, possible repower

I just sold a 240G with a 10 year old 225 Merc. Optimax that was the best motor I ever owned. If my 283 hadn't already had F250's it would have had Merc's installed. Not saying anything against Yamaha's, mine are preforming fine and I am well satisfied with them. If 10 years from now my total...

    Another Positive Grady experience!

Townvet: I did indeed contact Clyde and he was very helpful. He cleared up the two questions I had left and offered to send me Perko part numbers on all the fittings. I definitely took him up on this. He uses the female Perko fitting and I guess I am going to do the same. I just cannot see...

    Another Positive Grady experience!

This is going to get done, one way or the other because I think it's the best thing since apple pie. There are more times than I'm proud of that I skipped flushing because I didn't want to climb my old, fat self into the motor well to connect a water hose to two motors. I cannot tell from the...

    Another Positive Grady experience!

Nothing Else Matters is right, the other side is just a plug. Not that I doubted him but I checked it out yesterday evening. So, I must assume that there is pressure on the fitting when the engine is running so I will need some kind of back flow preventer, a few fittings, some hose and a bunch...
