    Silicone Caulking

Does anyone have a good source for the silicone caulking used to seal the deck joints on a Grady? I know it is almond colored and have tried West Marine, Lowes and Home Depot. Lowes had a few small containers but they were tooth-paste like, squeeze tubes designed to seal cracks in bathroom tiles.

New Design and Forum Software Upgrade

I hate change and this one was no different. I wound up being locked out for a few days because my pin number "would not convert". Then after we worked out this problem, I was still locked out because I had attempted to log in too many times when trying to solve the first problem. It then...

    Complete rewiring

I replaced the switch panel and its attachments some years ago on my first Grady, a 204. I bought a piece of plastic from the local plastics shop that they found in their junk bin for a couple of dollars. I bought new switches and circuit breakers, drilled holes to match the existing panel...

I think my local guy can get this done for me. Does anyone know the exact numbers for the "Corvin Blue" that Grady uses?

    Boat Graphics

We finally named our new boat and are going to put the name on each side. You guys recommend any particular type of decal? Do you use a sign shop or one of the internet sites? Thanks for your recommendations.

    Ten-Tom Waterway

We are planning on taking a three day cruise from Columbus, MS. to Pass Christian, MS this August. I have made the trip between Mobile and Pass Christian and am familiar with that portion of the trip. Anybody make the trip down the lower Ten-Tom and have any recommendations/warnings/advice...

    Yamaha NMEA 2000 Engine Info

I have this feature on my two 4210's with the Yamaha 250-4 strokes. It is almost a necessity if you raise the electronics box all the way up. In the full upright position, you cannot see the yahama gauges. As I mentioned in another thread, the Yamaha fuel totalizer is "right on" with the...

    Gas Guage Accuracy

My Mercury Optimax gage always showed that I burned about 8 to 10% less fuel than I took on when filling the tanks. That drove me crazy because it meant either I never knew how much fuel I could depend on having or the pumps at my local marina were registering more fuel than they were pumping...

    Anchor line chafing

I have braided line and although I consider myself an expert in making loops with three strand, twisted line, I have never tried it with braided line. Something tells me I will either find out how or invest a lot of money in anchors. I'm going to try to whip the joint and use fabric softener...

    Anchor line chafing

I purchased an anchor windless with my 283 and have a few questions about it. This is the first boat I have had with a windless and although I like it, my wife loves it even more. The connection between the line and the chain is made by looping the line back through the chain and braiding...

What to do what to do?

I too bought a new Grady 283 in November of last year. I hoped to extend my horizons past the barrier islands of the Mississippi Sound and do some tuna and rig fishing this year. All the blue water areas of the gulf I had hoped to fish are closed by the Feds. And a lot of my green and...

    Boat financing

The easiest thing to do is to get a home equity loan and use the proceeds to buy the boat. The home is the security for the loan, not the boat and all interest on a home loan is deductable. The problem comes when you try to convince your wife that securing your boat with her “nest” is “good...

What size of Kicker Motor is needed for 22' Boat

The first kicker I had on my 248G was a 2-stroke 18HP Mercury. At the time I had it installed, my dealer recommended a 9.9 Suzuki 4 stroke. I didn't think 9.9HP was big enough and I was afraid that the 4 stroke would not have enough "push" for the 248 so I insisted on the 18hp 2-stroke. BIG...
