    192 Repower Question

As an update to this I got a very helpful note back (and subsequent email conversation) from GW because I ran the question by GW corporate to see what their thoughts were regarding the weight differential (the Honda weights a few pounds more than my current Yami 150 and the Tohatsu only weighs...

New owner of 2000 tournament 192

I used to have that issue occasionally (or I'd get water coming back into the scuppers if too many people went to the back of the boat). Those flaps can be replaced or I installed a different kind of scupper over the current openings (plastic with ping pong balls)... definitely did the trick.

    192 Repower Question

Appreciate the advice/help. On further review I'm probably going to go with the Honda 150. It's the same weight as my current Yamaha 150 and for a few thousand $ more I think the Honda name may be worth it. The warranty is also non-diminishing on the Honda (not the case on the Tohatsu).

New owner of 2000 tournament 192

I have the same boat (a 2001). About to repower while she's down for the winter. Like Dennis above said, making sure that the transom/bang-plate has been well cared for (re-attached and sealed if necessary, I did a non-cosmetic patching of mine several years ago with 5200) is priority. Agreed...

    192 Repower Question

Thank you both. Generally the scuppers are currently fine except when I have a few people on the boat and everybody steps into the back. I put some of the plastic ping pong ball attachments on so it's not really an issue... but they certainly are right at the waterline. I've been very happy...

    192 Repower Question

I have a 2001 192 with a 150hp Yamaha HPDI 2 stroke. I love the boat but I'm looking into re-powering over the winter and my mechanic recommended that I look into going to a Tohatsu 140 4 stroke as a lightweight replacement to the current 150 4 stroke. He said that the few lost HP will be...

    96 Tournament 192 Repower

Very helpful write-up. I have a 2001 192 with a 150 HPDI Yamaha. Thinking about re-powering to a 4 stroke in the next year or two.

Looking for Bow Cushions 09 Fisherman 222

I used Ken Mercier, Always Undercover Marine Canvas and Upholstery, in Mashpee to redo all of the vinyl on my 2001 192 a few years ago. He did excellent work and was very reasonable. Boat looks like new with the work he did. His number is 508-510-9320.

LED stern lights keep burning out

Thank you... west marine is allowing me to trade in the burned out LED that I have. Appreciate it though.

LED stern lights keep burning out

A few years ago I replaced the (incandescent) stern light pole on my 2001 192 with an LED light pole. For some reason these LED's keep burning out. Does anybody have any suggestion, or should I just go back to the incandescent? I even tried replacing the Pergo light base (and everything...

    Decision

Thank you Blynch... Honestly the HPDI has been a great motor since I've owned the boat and I could envision it running for a number of years without issue. I started thinking about possibly trading up for a somewhat bigger boat, but after getting some sticker shock I thought about what it would...

    Decision

Thanks Skunk... all good advice! The current condition of the boat and motor seems to be excellent. The boat spent the first ten years of its like on one of the big lakes in NH from what I was told by my Dad who bought the boat before I took possession, and then it's been used on the Cape for...

    Decision

Thanks Smoky... I do believe that the stern is solid. The bang plate was coming loose a few years ago so I gooped the seam with whatever the caulking is that's like cement (recommended by the guy at West Marine). It certainly does feel solid to me... but that is something I'll double check...

    Decision

So reading this thread... I have a 2001 192 with a 150 2 stroke (HDPI) that currently runs great and has around 700 hours. My thoughts are that when this motor goes I'd repower since I have the newer hull and the boat seems to be in great shape. In my case would you also think that it's not...

    8 people on Tournament 19?

I have a 2001 192 and one of the things that I find most impressive about the boat is the way it holds its balance, even when people on the boat all move to one side (much different from other boats I've been on... particularly in this size-range... where you can feel the boat noticeably "tip")...

Scummy Things Fellow Boaters Have Done To Others...

Interesting. I have a friend who owns a Harley and we spoke about a "code" where "everybody" knows that you can leave your Harley virtually anywhere and people don't mess with it. We talked about a similar code with boats... where you can leave a boat worth tens or hundreds of thousands of...

Should I drop insurance in the winter?

I also boat in New England and keep my boat insured year round. It's a 20 year old 192 so the insurance is only a few hundred dollars a year... so for the extra peace of mind I don't mind paying the insurance for the full year (and I'm not sure whether my Geico-placed) policy would be any...

    new to boating-

In my opinion, as the owner of a 192 who's been boating for decades, the 235 is a lot of boat for somebody just starting out. I have a good friend with a similarly sized Seaswirl to the 235 (and not quite as heavy as the GW 235) and it was a lot for him to handle as a first boat and he was...

Advice? Going to check out this Tournament 192

I've done it a few times with this boat... maybe it's been with just me on-board (no additional passenger weight) and maybe it's because the HPDI 2 stroke is a little bit lighter than your 4 stroke? Or the newer (Seavee) hull. Not sure, but I do know that I was trimmed up and that speed was...
