S3213 fuel/water separator filter- Racor vs China noname from Amazon

So, before I got a Sierra 18-7919 to install, the OTHER gasoline filled bowl fell off the remaining china S3213! Here is a comparison of Sierra vs china bowl gaskets. Not the same. I put the china gasket on to test it. On a Sierra filter it leaks when you prefill the filter. So now I...

    If you are re-attaching a metal trim...I vote 5200.

    Lost my gas cap today...

Welcome to boating! The bead chains break too. Mine are broken and I carefully remove the caps and place them in the boat. With a chain, you get on plane and notice that the cap is flailing about. It breaks off as soon as you make eye contact....

yamaha 350 Broken steer tube/ swivel assembly

Thats a substantial piece of steel to be broken. I replaced the swivel rod (stearing bracket) on a Suzuki DF140 in my driveway. Bought a Harbor freight motor jack for $100. Left motor bracket mounted to transom. removed LU and shift rod. Take up weight of the motor while removing two nuts at...

    Electric Steering Upgrade and Autopilot

You can't justify the cost and effort for "electric" steering, even if you could get it. First things first, disconnect the cylinder (ram) from the tiller/swivel arm. Make SURE you can move the motor easily by hand. When you grease the swivel bracket(sometimes called steering bracket), grease...

    3 way fuel selector-Moeller 033302-10

I should clarify the digital display tank numbers. They entirely depend on which sender wires you connect to which plug on the motor cable harness.(Assuming its your motor doing the a/d conversion onto the N2k bus) Different motors may be different. Your connections may be different. I use 1...

    express 265 prop question

I have my tie bar adjusted toe out (rear of props closer). To do that you make the tie bar longer. The motors are 28" on center of tiller/swivel arm. So you mke it 28.5" that puts the LU toe out by 1/4" on each motor. It made a very noticable difference in being able to go STRAIGHT at idle...

How to run engine in a bucket?

Oh, for draining I used a leftover 6' piece of 1-1/4 hose. Fill it in the tub and hang it over the side...1-1/4 drains FAST!

    express 265 prop question

idk if it was mentioned but the motors need mounted to be as low as possible. That usually equates to the second hole down from the top.

Delamination port side - down to bottom paint

Only the sides have balsa core. The running surface is thick solid glass. The most likely cause is water getting into balsa core. You can probably get a peak at it by removing something...like a 4" piehole or rod grommet or drawer unit or behind backrest seat coaming or similar. On my 265 I can...

Replaced hatch covers with Starboard - lessons learned

Starboard is an easy way to go and looks great new. I have found that if you use it where people step, it scratches badly and holds dirt. Also, my fishing buddies will immediately use it to cut bait. I need to do my anchor hatch and pulpit. I will probably just grind off anything loose or...

    3 way fuel selector-Moeller 033302-10

Yes, pointer is opposite the handle. Center is Off. On my 265 the valves point left or right. Right is Main(Largest) tank and it is the forward tank. Left is AUX (smaller) tank and it is the rear tank. I label Main as 1 and Aux as 2 because the digital displays are 1 & 2 not Main and Aux...

Delamination port side - down to bottom paint

The core was end-grain balsa. Probably use a Divinycell foam board to replace. Pretty much the same job as a transom. Cut off skin, dig out wood, replace coring. glass back together, fair & paint. Sounds so easy.... I think a problem would be that the hull is not flat like a Grady transom...

    3 way fuel selector-Moeller 033302-10

After a fuel filter problem (see new thread....) I was able to run both motors for 15 minutes each on each tank to prime everything. Pumped the ball every few minutes. No leaks. Had a thought about swapping position of the valve and filter. Would make filter change a lot easier and safer.

S3213 fuel/water separator filter- Racor vs China noname from Amazon

Yes I've bought Sierra on Amazon. $26 ... I just couldn't wait 2 days. needed to run the motors. so I went to West Marine. They have the Sierra bowl on Amazon for $35. Its $39 at WM. I somewhat trust the seirra...why? idk...I guess West Marine gives it some respect. I trust RACOR but damn its...

How to run engine in a bucket?

Reviving thread to post success. Motors never really run well on flushing "ears". Too much drips out and it loses prime. It may "Pee" a little but not get full pressure up to the tstat. Constantly trying to stop leakage around "ears". Needed to run motors for a long time to prime fuel lines...

S3213 fuel/water separator filter- Racor vs China noname from Amazon

S3213 and Sierra 18-7919 are 10 micron filters that use reusable clear bowls. They fit Mercury, Yamaha, and Suzuki OEM mounts. They have 11/16"-16 thread. (OMC used a larger thread) I used Racor S3213 with the clear bowl for 18 years on my last boat. I also used them on this boat but started...
