I've done it. A good air mattress, sleeping bag and a wool cap is all you need. Sleep under the stars... Having a tarp handy is a good idea if there is fog, light rain or a morning dew.

I agree it is likely starving from fuel but it could be the relay. You can try swapping the starter relay with the fuel relay (they are the same). After the swap, if the starter turns the engine, you know it's good. If not, you know it's bad. For fuel, you must be sure the filters are clean...

As promised, here is my update... Today, I received and installed a new Solenoid/fuel valve assembly purchased from Fischer Panda in Florida. The generator started right up and ran flawlessly for one and a half hours before I shut it down (after cooling the vanes with no load for 10 minutes)...

Good question Bill. They were good or at least not out of whack. I reset them at .2mm. Once I receive and install the new solenoid + valve, I will report back.

I agree with Kirk (above). Years ago, I think I replaced the motor when the issue was the wiring to the switch.

Update: I was able to get my Fischer Panda started again. I consulted with a graybeard Diesel Mechanic and he suggested I spray some Starter Fluid into the Air Intake. I did this and my generator fired right up. Evidently, the Mechanic said I had air somewhere in the fuel line. Once I got it...

I would closely inspect your 6" "push in" inspection ports (aka deck plates). The gaskets, if not replaced, are 24 years old and probably leak alot. I replaced most of my push in plates with the screw in kind which seal much much better. I used 6" Beckson brand deck plates in almond color...
