    Marlin propeller selection

The largest Suzuki 16" diameter prop you should need is 18.5 pitch. I have a tower and bottom paint and needed the 17 pitch prop to get my RPM up to 6000. The proper hole for a Marlin with new Suzukis is second from the top. You shouldn't have a cavitation problem.

    Marlin propeller selection

I have the same motors. I use 16 x 17 pitch Suzuki props to get to 6,000 - 6,100 RPM. With a tower and bottom paint I needed the lower pitch to get to the top of the RPM range lightly loaded. I’m not sure why you’d want 30” shafts. What mounting hole are you using?

    Good Electrical Lesson Learned

As I understand it, the problem with replacing only one battery is that when batteries are part of the same bank, the charger will read the weakest battery and can overcharge the other battery in the bank and damage it. If my charger operates as explained to me by ProMariner tech support, it...

    Good Electrical Lesson Learned

I have a Pro Tournament Quad onboard charger. Do I need to replace both batteries in the bank to keep from degrading a new battery placed in the same bank with an older one during charging, or will my charger maintain all four batteries individually? I stay connected to shore power (batteries...

    Good Electrical Lesson Learned

I haven’t pulled it out yet and didn’t look for a date when I load tested. I bought the boat with these batteries already installed a year and a half ago, so I don’t know the history. I would have removed the battery already, but it’s in the worst location and I’ll have to remove at least one...

    Good Electrical Lesson Learned

I knew I had a battery issue after a failure to start while bottom fishing a while back. No problem, changed the battery switches and everything worked normally. I made sure all the cells were wet and hooked up to shore power as usual to charge batteries when I got back. I checked my batteries...

    Southwest Florida Grady Owners

My Marlin rode it out on the lift without problem. I'm about 70 miles or so north of Ian's landfall. One of the side vent windows caught air and popped out, but landed on the walkaround so I just put it back in. We were very lucky in the Tampa area. Thought we were ground zero until the last 24...

    Dekit or SeaDeck

Using a template from another boat (same model) is a mistake. There are noticeable differences in deck plate seams, pedestal mounts, and just about everywhere. The beauty of Seadek, FlexDek, Dekit, etc… is that you get a fitted, custom look. They map your deck with lasers and make precise...

    Digital 300’s

I did the same thing almost exactly a year ago, but without the joystick. Suzukis. Waited seven months.

    Sureshade factory option

Depending on your model and layout, you may want to think about a fixed shade. Mine doesn’t bother my fishing and it really protects well from sun and rain.

2003 Marlin 300 center of gravity

When you get your boat on the lift, checking the cable tension by hand at each lift point will give you an indication of how well the load is balanced.

2003 Marlin 300 center of gravity

Correct. 1200 pounds hanging on the transom plus a 250 pound generator and another couple hundred pounds of water and diesel throw the COG well back.

2003 Marlin 300 center of gravity

I use a point at the aft end of the livewell. Fuel isn’t a big concern because the tanks are so close to the COB point. The water tank is aft, however, as well as the generator and diesel tank if you have those (I do). To visualize it, my Marlin has about 2/3 of the length forward of my...

Air conditioner options for 2014 Marlin 300

Perhaps a better question to ask right up front is this: How much are you willing to spend to have AC in your cabin? I imagine the cost of a new marine AC unit plus the expense of haulout, wiring, plumbing, drilling the hull, etc… will be a good $10k, maybe more. Purchasing and installing a...

Air conditioner options for 2014 Marlin 300

Does your Marlin have a non-functioning unit now or was AC never installed? Do you have a generator?

    Props for Marlin

I believe new props are in my future, but I hear they’re hard to come by right now. I’ve already communicated with Ken at Prop Gods and he recommended Mercury Enertia ECOs. I read the comment by Fido earlier in this thread who raised his motors one hole (from second from top to third from top)...

    Props for Marlin

This is an old thread, but I wanted to see if there are any other Marlin owners out there with 300 Suzukis who found raising the motors to the third mounting hole from the top worked best for them. I’ve already switched to 17 pitch props, but can still only get 5800 RPM running light. I’d like...
