    Hit a buoy

I had a very similar type gouge on the side when pulling away from the dock one day and others mentioned using the Spectrum gelcoat pre-colored to match your particular model. I purchased some and have to say folks can't even tell where the damage was before. It is easy to use. Just sand down...

    Sealing the Deck

I have been using the GE II silicone in almond color for many years and have noticed in last year or so, it does not seem to hold up as well as it used to. Not sure if the changed the formula, but is seems to be cracking which is weird or pulling away from the surface. Also is molding faster...

Do I suck or is it my boat?

Best to start off with motors at even trim with the surface of the hull bottom. Neutral position. Then use the tabs down to push the deep V into the waves to help reduce the impact from launching up and slamming down. That is what that V is for, to cut the waves. Once you feel comfortable with...

    2003 282 Windlass Question

I had the 17# and went to the 22#. Added the led. Some improvement in the 22#, but still would just sit there sometimes. Do yourself a favor and get a Mantus. It has self launched every time and has not failed to anchor the first time where I had issues many times with the delta. Just my...

    Toe Rail Replacement Material Source?

I used the King Starboard to make new toe rails for my 252G in Seafoam color and it looks great. PVC is porous so it will look like heck after one season and also is soft so will mark/scratch/gouge really bad. I have used both in many areas on m boat and know this from experience. My tackle...

    home made All-around LED

Interesting idea! Looks good! I purchased an Attwood fold down with stainless base LED light many years ago but seems they are not making the same anymore. Now the fold down is not with the stainless base + LED like I have but instead is a plastic lever with a really strange looking LED light...

Groco macerator install ? for Sailfish

I removed mine many years ago and did the out of tank macerator conversion with good results. No longer have to pull out a nasty pump if any issue. As far as the hoses, just use a heat gun to warm them up and then they remove easier and are easier to manipulate. You can find other posts on here...

    Hull damage

Yeah, maybe not a crack. Some goo building up a layer it seems.

    Hull damage

Have never seen a crack like that in an area like that. Can only assume freezing caused it to crack there due to water penetration from a leaky thru hull....

    Length of anchor rope

I have 600' 8 plait 1/2" in my 252 and yes, every now and then get a jamb but that has been mostly due to the chain working it's way down under the rode during rough seas. Once I get it out and use it a bit, that issue goes away. Much easier to deal with an occasional jamb than other methods I...

    Port Cabin Window Leaking

I have been having issues in last few times when I was at the boat and had water coming in. We had a good storm one night and I found water all the way over on the sink, so it seemed to be blowing in but can't find where/how. Window is totally shut. I did find that the channel on the outside...

    2003 282 Windlass Question

I went from the Delta anchor to the Mantus and it self launches every time and so far has held better. It is irritating when it does not drop when needed so have been much happier with the Mantus.

Do I suck or is it my boat?

In my experience in my 252G Sportbridge model, every trip is different. Over time after getting more and more used to her, I found I could not get the bow down enough to let the front cut the seas more. So I added some keel weight and found now with tabs, I can put the front down into the seas...

    Grady Stripe for Sailfish

Folks, I had a bad case of dock rash last weekend and have to do a gelcoat repair and also repair a section of the blue stripe on the side. I have been searching for the striping, but seems some of the former sources have since dried up. I can spray paint the stripe which I have done before and...

    2001 330 Express Wiper Blade

Does anyone know if these refills will fit the Marineco Stainless Steel wiper arms? I am using the Marineco 34020S model with the Silicone Wiper blades, but they barely last 2 seasons, even covered from the sun. I have been able to get new one's including the new SS arms for approx. $27 each...

Agree, same here. Just a thin coating is all that is needed.

    Buying a new polisher

Agree, but smoothness and operation of the Dewalt over the HF is night and day. The weight has not bothered me and I am an old guy doing the 25' boat myself. However, lighter would be nice, but investment is done for now. Speed control has been very important and the HF does not handle that well.

    Buying a new polisher

I have gone through 3 HF polishers. The last 2 I still have but got tired of them not managing the slow speed. After starting and they run a minute or so as they warm up, then the speed increases too much. Went for the Dewalt and what a difference. Speed management is stellar and that with the...
