    Getting a raise

All well and good during performance testing. Now get out in big following rolling seas where you have to trim up to keep bow up and the motor starts ventilating. I’d keep her down one from where you are at now.

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

I know exactly what you mean. Motor trim should set bow height! Unless stern is overweighted like he said. Inherited problem of brackets.

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

Sounds like you need a 31 Bertram or something similar. Big heavy center weight with a deep V cutting through everything. All outboards inherently have a ride on top of water vs inboards that ride deeper in the water on plane.

    Bang plate like every Grady

    How does beam affect ride?

Said it before and I’ll say it again. Any Grady with a bracket or integrated bracket don’t handle the rolling ocean seas with chop on top like a seaV 2 hull that goes all the way back to the motor mounted on boat. No the bracket doesn’t make it a bigger boat. It does on paper and at the dock...

    Where 228’s Come From.

Your experience with a hydrofoil (especially on a 228)?

It’s ashame they don’t make the 226 anymore. The bracket model is appealing but you get it, falls off plane low speed in ocean. Coming home yesterday in ocean 3600 rpm 14.2 mph. Easily on plane just slicing thru the waves that kicked up big time on top of the big rollers in afternoon. Could have...

    Roughest Seas You’ve Endured - Seafarer 228?

If brackets were so great with so little cons then why does all newest Grady design boats like freedom and fisherman’s have no brackets??

    Roughest Seas You’ve Endured - Seafarer 228?

Bracket doesn’t make boat bigger. Waves hit center which is under seat. Now….. a non bracket boat can put the V right in the wave with no added bow weight. And not fall off plane till much slower speeds.

    WTB Seafarer 228, 2000-20016

226 all the way for me. Crazy I was out during a small craft advisory and my cut out didn’t sink lol. No bracket maintenance/sealing or different paint for it. Easily on plane through big rollers. Scuppers sit above water line. Low speed around docks turns on its own axis. Best part. Other day...

2006+ has the better cabin layout and better cockpit layout. Also I think rounded windshield and cleaner look of one cabin window per side.

    Rhodan on a 226 Seafarer

Just ordered minn kota 36v 72”. Taking my windlass and plow anchor off to cover windlass holes with mounting puck. Plan to mount it this way. Order fortress anchor to put in anchor locker. Now deciding to either go with lithium or regular batteries.

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

I think it mainly has to do with how expensive these models have become and you can get a bigger freedom for less. Had the bracket Grady before. They both have their pro and cons. Was nice turning in a marina over the weekend without a bracket and not having to k turn so to speak. Both have the...
