    2006 Yamaha f250 Issues

I agree with Doc Stressor. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles, sounds like you threw good money after bad, we've all done it at one time or another. If your hull is solid and fits your needs, I think you may be better off with new tanks and new power. On the other hand, not too many people...

    Question for 30' Marlin owners

We fish on overnight trips a few times per year, typically four or five large guys. Owned the boat since 2008. Without a doubt, the aft berth is favored by everyone that ever slept or took a nap in the cabin. You can lean your back against the bulkhead and stay comfortable in most seas...

    Genny Replacement Marlin

Yes, I strap the Honda EU2000 to the swim platform. We have a CO detector in the cabin and have not had an issues. We typically use the genny on overnight trips to the canyons (few times a year) and leave the front hatch open to keep the cabin comfortable, never needed the A/C when offshore...

    Genny Replacement Marlin

We used to visit the boat shows in the NYC or NJ area every year. When they started showing the Grady Whites with generators I said to myself, that looks like a pain in the neck to work on. Then in 2007 and 2008 when I was actively looking for a lightly used Marlin I noticed a few potential...

Location - Hot water tank and heater and pres pump 03 Marlin

Re: Location - Hot water tank and heater and pres pump 03 Ma On our 2006 Marlin the electric hot water heater is located below the helm seat. You can see it if you pull the four Plano boxes out of the tackle center out. The water pressure pump (fresh water) is located in the aft bilge area...

    2001 282 w/f250's...prop size

Your numbers don't sound right... in general older outboard powered boats should consume about one gallon per hour for every ten horsepower at wide open throttle. With most outboards made after 2000 they would often consume one gallon per hour for every 11 horsepower. On some modern outboards...

    Tournament 225 performance

I saw and responded on the other site the other day. If this is in fact a 30" shaft I am not aware of an easy fix. You could purchase a jack plate, but as far as I know they are not really designed for Grady style boats (more like go fast bass boats in calm waters). Not sure what your options...

    whats it worth

According to NADA the boat is worth about $5800. Without photos I'm not sure that's a fair market value or not. By the way, I do not think Grady made a 25 foot center console in 1986, I looked up the Grady 249 fisherman (which is a 24 foot boat).

Toe Rail Removal on 208 Adventure?

On our 2002 Grady 209 the phillips head screws are definitely where that brown strip is on you 208 (we do not have the brown strip).

    Possible Re-power 07 Marlin

If given a choice I would re-power with Yamaha 300hp or Suzuki 300hp. My decision would be based on proximity of the dealer, local parts availability, whether I could use the same gauges and twin controls or not and finally cost. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I don't...

RPM and Speed Grady 268 Islander

I have only been on an Islander once and it was powered with a 250 EFI. However I have been on many twin engine Gradys so I'll at least give an estimate. I would guess around 3800 rpm you would get the best mpg, probably running about 25-27 knots with a clean bottom and normal load. I would...

    Outriggers size for marlin

Our Marlin came without outriggers. We added Lee "MX style" outriggers that I believe are fifteen feet long. These go into the MX style base mounts that I think are eight feet long ( I may be wrong they may be six foot bases). So I think the total length is 24 feet. With this setup, we can...

    FM stereo antenna 300 Marlin

Stock FM antenna is nothing more than a piece of wire string above the black lexan sliding cabinet on the port side of the cabin. We upgraded to Galaxy 8 foot model on the hardtop with great results close to shore. We have mixed results offshore (80 miles) because we pick up NYC, Philly, Long...

    Looking for performance comparison - 1999 Bimini 306 w/ Ox66

Re: Looking for performance comparison - 1999 Bimini 306 w/ More prop results just for a reference: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14837 Btw, I did end up raising the engines and gained very little performance wise (maybe hole shot is a little better but that does not matter to me).

    Looking for performance comparison - 1999 Bimini 306 w/ Ox66

Re: Looking for performance comparison - 1999 Bimini 306 w/ I know this is not the same boat or the same engines, but might help as a reference. In addition, I can't stress enough that my boat bottom was very smooth. I suspect your engines sit a little too low and the hull may not be very...

    Mooring whip locations

I agree with Jeff, mount them so the bases line up with your bow and stern cleats. In other words if let say the distance from the center of your bow cleat to the center of tour stern cleat is 200 inches. You would mount the center of each mooring whip at 200 inches. Make sure you use heavy...

    Boat inspection help

Bruce first of all welcome to the website. I've learned a few tricks some simple and some not so simple. An easy one that requires no tools is to grab the lower unit and attempt to lift then lower the outboard while watching the transom closely for flex. Another one is to gently tap with a...
