Help settle a Ring Free debate.

I purchased a new 2000 Yamaha SX250 0X66 in the summer of 1999. Mounted the engine and ran it for approximately 1000 hours over a period of seven seasons. A good friend purchased the boat from me and the engine failed almost exactly 100 hours later. I used ring free most of the time, but did...

    Cable Conduit

On my last boat (1992 Grady Explorer) the white channel was made by Panduit. Here is a link to some updated products that look similar but not necessarily the same to what you may have. http://www.panduit.com/Products/Product ... /index.htm

Fuel Flow Meter / Management Meter Issues

See this link and I think there is another one as well. My problem was a bad ECU, at least that what I was told. They also replaced a gauge and a harness (didn't help). viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8420

    Marlin 300 wiring questions

I have only examined the wiring in and around the helm area of my 2006 Marlin, all of the wiring is tinned. I am not sure about the battery cables. As far as the windlass goes, on my boat if I accidentally hit the 'up' switch and the anchor is already up, the only thing that trips is the helm...

Need Help with Honda EU200I Hook Up

I have checked the boat mounted outlets in the cockpit, cabin port berth and bathroom all were 115-122 volts depending on load. I never pulled the paned with the generator running, but I did on shore power (carefully), 119 to 121 volts. During the latter test the digital breaker panel display...

9.9 yamaha kicker water flow interuption

Could also be a stuck thermostat or a stuck poppit valve (not sure ir it has one). I would start with these first before you haul it out unnecessarily. Here is a link that might help, see #15 for thermostat location (assuming this your model) http://www.yamaha-motor.com/partviewer/ ...

    Getting the Grady color back

For stubborn stains or heavy oxidation I use rubbing compund (I think paste in a can works better, but I've used both). I use a spray bottle (old windex bottle) and wet the area and 'grind' in the compound with a rag or my buffer if it is a large area. After working on fiberglass boats for...

Need Help with Honda EU200I Hook Up

Joe, I was hesitant to post a response, as I have a Honda knockoff made by Honeywell (China or Korea I suspect). It works excellent, I've used it about ten times on and off the boat and the iit was less than half the cost of the Honda. I have not used the generator on the boat in about nine...

What sealant to use on the deck hatches

One more minor tip, I have read that if you use a piece of fishing line (50lb test monofilament I guess) and lay it in the track before you caulk the joint that you can easily 'cut' the caulk if and when you need to remove it in the future.

    Gulfstream Seacock

Assuming these are the same as my 06 Marlin, yes those long stainless rods with the black round handles are connected to the thru-hull valves. Lift the handle to open, push the handle down to close. In in theory you are supposed to leave the valves closed whenever not in use, especially when...

    marlin 280 vs. marlin 300

As you probably know, back in 1990 there were no F225 engines. However, there were V8 outboards around that time (Evinrude made them in 88 and 89 I believe) that were pretty heavy. That being said, I doubt you'll have to worry about the weight of the F225 hanging off the back of that 1990 boat...

    Grady 305 Performance

Re: Grady 305 Performance ??? I am well aware that we are talking about an Express and not a Marlin, but I thought this thread may act as a reference. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14837 In the 305 Express performance tests I have read, they are a little slower than the marlin with the same power. I...

3 Blade vs. 4 Blade test results

With regard to the trim tabs, they work a little different with the four blades. Before I purchased the new four blade props, I was informed that these four blades raise the stern of the boat. Most props I have owned and read about are designed to raise the bow. I have not used the boat in...

3 Blade vs. 4 Blade test results

Guys, boat is kept in water till the end of November, so raising engines is not feaseable at this time. I am leaning to raising them one hole over the winter while the boat is on land. Maybe I could go two holes, but I don't want to push it. Yes, I can trim the engines higher without blow-out...

why respace engines when repowering from 2 stroke to 4 strok

Re: why respace engines when re powerin from 2 stroke to 4 s I'm not sure I understand the question but I can offer this. By spacing any pair of outboards on a transom (or a bracket I guess) farther apart, you gain better slow speed handling especially around the dock. I believe this is in...

    Marlin Trailer

One thing to keep in mind while were spending John's money is that in his original post he suggested the trailer would probably be used for storage more than anything else. I have no idea how far the ramp is from where the boat will be stored, nor do we know what the terrain is like in John's...
