As stated above, leave plug in when in water to keep bilge water from wetting the bottom of that new tank. when boat is high and dry remove plug to be sure compartment is dry then replace plug. My old 2 strokes always ran when tilted way up. At low tide I would travel an inlet with the water inlets barely submerged. On an older and smaller boat than I have now but the principle is the same. I would think its fine to do that on earmuffs.

I would think the biggest concern would be the aluminum pipework. Treat with rupp alumaguard or woodywax. Rinse with copious amounts of fresh water. Once the aluminum pipework pits there's no getting the finish back. Especially between the top and frame and the tracks for the canvas. Remember...

Honestly if you want a hard top and this boat doesn't have one. It's not the boat for you. That's the reason those boats are usually a bargain. There's nothing like an oem hardtop. Keep looking and you'll find one with all the options you desire.
