Towed mine with with a 2001 Sequoia for 10 years, and it did great. Never an issue on the road or at any ramp (2wd).

Sounds slow to me, too. My 228 w/hardtop used to easily hit 40 mph in calm water (and honestly, the fuel level and people on board didn't change the top-end very much). That was at 5500+ rpm though, with a 225 OX66.

I went from a 200 carb to a 225 OX-66. I feel the newer motor starts easier, idles smoother, makes more power (it's a 225, of course), and is more fuel efficient to boot. Pretty good upgrade for me.
