20 year old varnish in tank 208

Probably water. I dealt with water in fuel problems for a few seasons. If there is ethanol in your new fuel it will separate out if too much water in the tank. Could also be condensation or missing o-rings on Perko fuel fills. "A blend of 85% gasoline and 15% MTBE can hold only 0.5 teaspoons at...

20 year old varnish in tank 208

Do you have an inline filter before the engine? What has it collected? Are you sure it’s not water? Ethanol is a great solvent. It will free up varnish and dissolve fiberglass tanks. The sludge can destroy your new engine too. Pump some fuel into clear container and let it settle. Put a photo up.

    330 Express Windlass Replacement

The Horizon 800 windlass has been long gone from the market. I replaced mine with the Lewmar ProFish 700. 1/4" chain and 1/2" 8-plait anchor rode. I have chewed up a few anchor rodes. I would recommend going up a size for your boat to the Lewmar ProFish 1000 and 5/8 8-plaite.

New Grady owner ( couple questions)

Hatches and hardtops on older GW's are problematic. You won't fine a replacement in any better shape. Repair is best especially for the edge chipping. Starboard is OK for the top.

Source for 1 1/8” thru hull fittings?

I use a step drill bit from the outside to remove the "mushroom" then push the hose inside and remove the barb. If you can get the hose off first it's easier because you have something to "wrench" and pull against. Thruhulls should not be over caulked. Just right amount so it squeezes out...

1992 Seafarer 22 Fuel Tank Replacement

You can't really inspect a tank without taking it out of the boat. The serious corrosion in on the bottom of the tank. You can look at the sides and top but that rarely is where they leak. At 38 years old they are likely ready. Replacement difficulty varies by model. I did my Islander a few...

Coast Guard documentation for Gulfstream 232?

He isn’t going to get to 5-ton displacement with a 232. A call into the Coast Guard and maybe they will allow a smaller vessel traveling Internationally. They won’t care about his interest rate.

Seat Slide Hardware Adaptor for 2004 Tournament 185?

These seat spiders are junk. They last a while, the plastic sliders break up, the seat bushing crack. These guys make most of the bases you see. Reality is after 5 years or so of abuse throw them away and get new. https://springfieldgrp.com/

    Black tank and pump replacement

Probably a fuse. My pumpout panel has a fuse holder on it. You may have one behind the panel. Also all the 12VDC circuits that are not switched are fed off a fuse block (mine is under the helm).

2003 282 Sailfish - New Fuel Vent Cover Suggestions

The fuel tanks are vented to the fuel fill. On my Islander that is a waste tank vent. Accessible (one handedly) thru the opening behind the toilet.
