    2012 Freedom 275 electrical issue's UPDATED

Pull the switch panel. The switches have 12 volt positive jumpers across the rows. You may have a jumper off - that would explain several going out at once. This is a photo of my new panel. Those red wires are jumpers. If you don't see a problem get a voltmeter and test them.

    Express 265 Epirb location.

On my 268 Islander it’s inside the cabin next to the door port side. You can access it without stepping inside the cabin.

    Painting non-skid deck

I have not sanded out diamond non-skid gelcoat. I did sand the hardtop non-skid gelcoat smooth before refinishing. Wasn't that difficult. Hardtop had severe edge chipping and other "blisters". They were ground out to the substrate, epoxy primed, epoxy fairing compound and carefully sanded smooth...

    EVA Decking on the cheap

I have not refinished my cockpit non-skid yet. Been struggling with the idea of sanding out the diamond non-skid. My friend with the 56' F&S has been dealing with failing teak cockpit for past few seasons (boards coming loose and re-gluing). He has talked to several owners and installers about...

    Repairing a small hole

I don't like that damage. Looks like you hit something and it punched thru. Or it was a factory defect on the fiberglass layup. This should be the strongest part of the boat along with the keel. The strakes may be hollow. I would try to get inside and repair from both sides (inside first) if...

    Stereo side piece

Looks like my Fusion Stereo! If the retaining screws are too large the covers won't stay on. Try going down a size. Order new ones from Garmin/Fusion.

    New Seadek - Marlin

Get it done locally. Not that difficult. I installed awning track in the hardtop and made the cover myself. Dual function. Can be snapped down at the dock or cam cleated to stainless poles I had made by Canvas Designers in Riveria Beach, FL ($1,000 for the set). Heavy duty. plenty to choose...

    Pulpit

On my 268 Islander it wasn't a big deal. Weight was the only issue - you need a helper to hold it while you take the bolts out. Remove the bow rails screws. You can do this last to help hold the pulpit. Buy a wide flat blade ratchet set from Harbor Freight. Get underneath the pulpit with a...

    Bell Requirement for MA vessels

Most VHF radios have a hailer feature that can do fog horn patters. You need a speaker for it to work.

Tips needed - Windlass nut removal

I just threw out all my old parts and windlass spares for the Horizon 500 windlass on my 1997 GW 289 Islander. Parts no longer available. Consider a Lewmar ProFish 700. The Horizon windlass is junk!

Flush Mount Remote Control Freedom 205

Works every time! But seriously - I have a Rinker with Volvo Penta inboard. Similar problem - no access. I got the shift unit loose and worked it to the speaker hole. Not ideal. You may be able to pull the shifter back toward the cockpit. I would imagine the factory feeds that assembly forward...

    2004 300 Marlin "console"

NewWire panels are acrylic. Mine are "fake" carbon fiber. Look great and are much cheaper to produce. My 8612xsv chartplotter mounts differently. Starboard panel fitted to lower radio box opening with serious rework. Second chartplotter in overhead.

I'm pretty sure it's not legal to swim or play with them. Not legal to give them water from a hose either. I'm in the Keys during the winter (Islamorada January/February/March +/- a few weeks). We see them occasionally in the canal where we stay. We went on a tour in Key Largo on the canals a 10...

    Boat Wax

I use this on my AwlCraft 2000 paint finish. AwlCare polymer sealer. Works really well. Goes on like liquid wax, doesn't dry hard, wipe off and polish out with clean towel. No buffing necessary or recommended. Doesn't get much easier. After a days fishing we don't use a detergent cleaner. Rinse...

The 943xsv's are not being discounted by reputable Garmin dealers! Garmin is very deliberate to protect it's dealer's margins. And the dealers fall in line because it's good for them. Maybe a couple of flakey unauthorized resellers. Take a look... Garmin implements a unilateral Minimum Retail...
