    Anyone ever 'beach' their GW?

I have seem boats that were routinely beached in sand and the gel coat has worn off in the keel where it rests in the sand. I'd expect that to happen if you beached it enough times. I don't beach my Grady. But I would install a keel guard / shield if I were going to plan to start doing so.

    Portable GPS vs Combo

Grady-Crazy, I have a similar situation to yours. When I originally bought my boat, 1) I didn't like the electronics compartment setup, so I made a flushmount panel out of starboard. 2) I already had a Garmin GPS 5 deluxe, so I just mounted it on a R.A.M. mount that I bolted to the...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

You do not want to make a decision without sea trialing the boat. You will be MUCH happier with a better riding boat. And you never know what kind of "quirks" might show themselves when you get the boat out on the water. Based on my experience, IMO one of the most (if not thee most)...

    Islander W/F350??

http://www.gradywhite.com/grady-built/structure.php3 From the Grady White website: Super Strong Transoms Two 3/4" layers and one 3/8" layer of plywood are fiberglass laminated together and braced with a 5/16" angled aluminum brace to make our super strong laminated transoms. The brace...

    Can a Grady White sink?

My understanding is that a Grady White will not sink to the bottom. Not that it will stay level or upright, or that there would even be much of it above the water line, but it would not go to the bottom. So in a worst case scenario, assuming you could cling to what's sticking above the...

    faulty trim tabs

I asked Grady White customer service why they put the trim tab pump in the v-berth and they're reply was that it is better protected from water in that location. If you spray the rear seating area of my boat with the wash down, some water can indeed find it's way into the compartment underneath...

Getting the boats off the trailer for bottom cleaning

Here's a technique I have used, though depending on how high your boat sits off the ground when it's on the trailer, it may not (probably won't) satisfy your 3 ft off the ground requirement. This must be done on LEVEL, HARD ground. Lower the trailer tongue jack all the way down. Put blocks...

sailfish 252 fuel burn twin 225 ficht 2000's

A concern I would have about putting more HP on the transom than the boat is rated for would be resale. Although the current boat owner's insurance company might indeed insure the boat, what if the prospective buyer's insurance company wouldn't? Say for instance the boat was surveyed and the...

    grady white hulls

The cost of the labor is covered for life as well. The cost of the materials other than the wood (fiberglass for instance) is only covered for the first 10 years however. I know because I made sure I got a copy of that Greenwood XL warranty before I put any money down on a Grady. But if your...

    new grady owner

Congrats on the new boat. I've got the same boat in the walkaround version. I know what you mean about having to wait through the winter to get to use your new boat. I took delivery of mine in November of '04. Before that, the only time I got to use it was when I sea trialed it.

    New 208 for me?? Maybe

Look into that C-Dory a little more. I read a review of that boat a couple months ago. Now I had never seen one in person and I had always thought they were a nice looking boat (and still do). But that review I read kept mentioning that unless the water was flat, you had to keep the speed to a...

    Maintaining new engines

Anytime I get a new (or used) boat motor, motorcycle, car, truck, etc. I obtain not only a user manual, but also a shop manual and I strictly follow the maintenance schedules and procedures outlined in the manuals. On any Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, or Suzuki product I have ever owned (maybe a...

    222 fisherman questions

I have an '03 F225. There was a recall on this engine. Something having to do with the throttle linkage. I had mine taken care of when I got it. Make sure the one your considering had that done. Mine had an intermittent vibration at 600 in gear. Dealership said it was a bushing that needed...

What model Grady White do you own?

First of all want to say, love the website. Great to see some of the names I recognize from THT. Afishinado, gw204, Tom McGow, Jim Tatler .... Anyway, last fall, I fullfilled a 23 year dream of mine and bought my first Grady White. It's a 226 SeaFarer. It's powered by a Yamaha F225. I bought...
