    2000 Marlin

Sickday - no issues on a plane quartering 3-4ft chop? From what I have been reading, more weight aft helps prevent the dig and dive effect and keeps the nose up. I have only had the boat for about 20 running hours last season so trying to figure her out.

    2000 Marlin

Sounds like F225s (w/o dry exhaust design issues) would be fine for me....do not want to re-drill holes if possible. Not looking for any speed or time to plane. Bigger question, how to handle current configuration in 3-4ft quartering chop?...boat seems to dig and dive in my limited experience...

    2000 Marlin

Hi - also a new Marlin owner (1999). I am interested in your results....how does the Marlin handle (in my few hours of use, I am not comfortable with her yet) and twin 225's....many here claim that's not enough power, but the engines are plentiful here on the East coast and would be a nice re...

    Whats a 94 Explorer Worth ?

94 Explorer for sale Ok folks, checked with you last year on price ranges. I love this boat, and really do not want to sell it, but there it is dry-docked in my yard. I now have 3 boats, and the Grady has not seen the water this year. First realistic offer and she goes. I will not sell low, I...

    Whats a 94 Explorer Worth ?

Hopefully I will not sell it. Selling boats is a PIA. Plus, I really enjoy this boat. She handles like a dream, the cockpit is enormous, and the cabin is actually satisfactory for sleeping two overnite. Thanks for the tips....I figure mid teens would be a fair starting point. We'll see what...

    Whats a 94 Explorer Worth ?

Absolutely love my Grady. But, there is a slight chance I might need to sell next spring. Boat's here in the New England,. I would rate it about an 8 out of 10. It has a 94 (or 95) Saltwater Series II Yamaha 200, with low hrs and complete service record. I always buy high and sell low, so would...

Thru Hull Leaking 94 24' Explorer

thx folks. Got it done. Used a heat gun to soften hoses prior to taking off, and used my filet gloves (mesh steel) to get a grip. About 4 hrs into it and just about done. The plastic thru hulls snapped in my hands....surely the cause of the leaks, but I replaced the hoses too. What a pain!

Thru Hull Leaking 94 24' Explorer

doubt its the inspection plates, theres been zero rain here (believe it or not.....every one of those thunderstorms in the NE have missed us). The boats on the hard in my driveway now, I pulled it last nite. I'm going to put a hose to each drain from the boat and plug the egress, and we'll see...

Thru Hull Leaking 94 24' Explorer

Hi - it appears one or more of my thru hulls are leaking. Its the Port side. Boat sits on a mooring and I noticed water in bilge I have never seen. Every other possible thru hull is dry, other than that area. Its either the deck drains or live-well. I am hoping its the hoses, and not the plastic...

    1994 Explorer with a 4 stroke

Believe it or not, its a 1994 Yammie 200 SWS II. It runs great, pushes the boat comfortably at 27mph at a nice cruise RPM (tops is 35mph). For Buzzards Bay, just getting up on plane most days is your max speed anyway. I dont know its longevity, but my mechanic says "stick with it, they're great...

    Grady v Parker 23 ft

The only thing about Parkers I don't like is the wheelhouse seems to be more forward than other boats. 40 years on the water, and my aching back has tought me, that when steaming through 3 ft chop, the farther astern you are, the more comfortable the ride....hands down.

    1994 Explorer with a 4 stroke

I also own a 94 Explorer. I would not put a four stroke on it. I own a 4-strk on another boat, and besides its good points (reliable, gas consumption), its weight to torque ratio is horrible. I owned a previous boat with a 300hpdi. Once it had the updates, it was great. I will go...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

Sold My Robalo I sold my brand new Robalo R235 (2004) and bought a used Grady. Couldn't be happier. I bought the Robalo new, the boat was absolutely, beyond question the worse handling boat I ever owned (and I have owned quite a few). The workmanship and materials were mediocre at best. In...

    T-Top Soft or Hard?

hard vs soft A great question. I have had several with both. Currently have a soft top on my 24 Explorer. My last boat, a 23 ft Robalo, had a hard top which was overbuilt and heavy.....the boat handled like a dog because of it, clearly threw the center of gravity off. It also leaked and stored...

    1981 Mako 17 Project - 7/15/13 update

Thats a car engine stand....how are you going to mount a outboard on there? How will you have the depths without hitting the lower unit on the floor? The reason I ask is was looking for a stand myself a few months ago....the largest capacity stand I could find was around 280lbs, and I have a...
