9.9 high thrust kicker install on 228

I've been searching that situation on our 24' Offshore with swim platform too. All that I have found so far is various mounting setups directly on swim platform with bracket secured to transom. Being that my Grady has a teak swim platform, I am contemplating using a suitable type kicker bracket...

    Considering moving up - thoughts?

I always felt that a 22' Grady Seafarer is the perfect size. I've had two of them. Big enough to go out in the big water, yet still able to trailer without any hassle. If you do move up, try to get a 1998 or newer with the newer designed hull.

    Bilge Pump size?

I just replaced the Rule 1500 with another Rule 1500 in my 24 Offshore. Also installed a Rule 350/380 in cabin bilge area. Would have placed a larger capacity in cabin bilge, but height space is restricting,

Seafarer 228G Transom and stringer concerns

Normally, a Grady from late '90s and newer do not have any inherent transom or stringer problems. Some older ones from the '70s-80s, and some '90s experience soft transom cores if not properly maintained.. Like any other preowned boat though, a thorough inspection by a qualified person would be...

Where to buy new complete set of windows?

Here's another place you may want to check into. It is a very large marine supply place that has everything for boats, both new, and used. Maybe this place will have something more reasonably priced. http://themarineconnection.net/

Where to buy new complete set of windows?

For me, that seems like a lot of work. I just want mine to open, close, and not leak.

Where to buy new complete set of windows?

Jason, I'm getting ready to redo windows on my 24 Offshore also. I asked a similar question here some time back and got the company name listed below. I have contacted them and they told me they have everything for our boat windows. Mike Marine Glass Specialties,Inc. George Rietheimer...

Help any 248 Voyager owner with a kicker

There's a similar thread currently on "TheHullTruth" forum that discusses what HP kicker for I believe a 25' boat. It pretty much sums up that an 8-10 hp is best suited for the job, and any higher hp would be a waste of fuel because boat will not go any faster until enough hp is added to get on...

Checked out a boat and need advice.

Hole that has corroded through the aluminum molding is classic example of galvanic corrosion. Two dissimilar metals (aluminum molding/stainless steel screw), with an outboard touching molding and going into water/saltwater, hooked to a battery and alternator/generator producing voltage. Happens...

    1987 240 offshore question

I'm no expert in this area, but fairly sure deadrise is around 19* at transom and varies all the way towards bow on '80s 24 Offshore models.

Checked out a boat and need advice.

You are absolutely correct in being concerned about the condition of transom underneath that transom notch molding. This molding not being sealed properly is most likely the greatest source of transom rot on older Gradys. Water enters under this molding when it is guided there it by angle of...

    Teak Oil & Sealer

I was looking at my teak yesterday. I also have a teak swim platform that requires periodic attention. I no longer bother with the three step program. I just pressure wash, light surface sand, and brush on teak oil. I do not have a brand preference, because none of them seem to last very long...

    Deck drains

I'm not certain if your 1995 is similar to the older Seafaers, but if they are, and you are speaking of the brass tubes both port and starboard cockpit drains through transom, Jamestown distributors has them, as well as Discount marine supply in Ft Pierce, Fl. Most major marine supply companies...

    Should I recore my transom?

I did a rebuild on a 22' Grady Seafarer transom a number of years ago. There are different ways to do a transom recore: from inside/from outside/from top/wood/composite/pourable/etc. I did mine from inside so as not to disturb integrity of exterior fiberglass. I did not trust my fiberglass...

Once motors are submerged are they done???

You can pretty much count on all internal parts being pitted and needing replacement. Electric parts should be bad too. I'm sure outboards will have some parts that will be usable, so should have value as parts motors, or maybe good for power head replacements. Lower units could survive if water...
