Any Gradys with a head compartment and 5,000# towing?

I was in the same boat as you (#DadJokes), but rather than compromising on the boat, I got a better vehicle. So I ditched the 4Runner and got a Land Cruiser, that allowed me to feel more comfortable pulling a 228. Granted I never have to tow far so I don't have to worry about that.

Recent 228 and pressure washer OK?

For waterline stains, the cheapest oxalic acid you can get is "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner at the dollar store. Just make sure you continually are rinsing everything with the hose while you use it, especially the trailer.

What do you tow your boat with?

Guess I'll be the first odd duck out as I don't have a pickup. I use a Toyota Land Cruiser.

226/228 owners - do you pull the plug?

My boat is on a mooring so the plug only comes out in the fall, but then I leave it out until the next spring. In that time though, it's always dry as a bone.

Based on what mine looks like, I am guessing they are all the same.

The deck covering - where to get it, how much, is it worth it?

It looks nice and is supposed to clean up fairly well, but can get pricey for custom fits. Additionally, it doesn't last forever and removing is supposed to be a real pain.

    Worth it or not ?

I think he means actual fuel for the boat. Figure of speech. :)

Considering an older Marlin. Any advice is appreciated!

That's a big boat to be constantly trailering, especially with little experience doing so. I ran into the same problem with surveyors for my boat back in the beginning of July. Eventually after many, many calls, I found one that could do it within a week. It's worth it.

    Post storm damage report.

Another small sailboat washed up too. I also talked to someone else with an I/O dual console and half his windshield blew off as well as his gps lol.

    Post storm damage report.

Didn't think the winds on LI would be nearly as bad as they were, forecasters grossly underestimated this storm for us. No one in my town pulled their boat. Went out Tuesday night right after the winds died down to check on the boat. Immediately noticed it wasn't at my mooring. The wind had...

    Towing

Tow my 228 with a V8 Land Cruiser with zero issues. Then again I don't go far, if I was going long distances I would probably want something bigger.

Raccoons chewed thru the shrink wrap!

Results are fantastic and definitely a name to keep in mind should I need them in the future as I am also in Suffolk.

    Garboard drain plug!!

Did it once on my old boat since I only put it in the water in the Spring and then never launch again until the following year. Luckily was still at the dock when I realized the problem, but unfortunately I could not get it threaded back in underwater and had to back the trailer back down to...

    Small Offshore Comparison’s

All of my ramp work is solo on the 228 as my wife is busy keeping the kids alive; never had an issue and I am far from an expert.

Grady White - Help with Model Choices

Mine came with one on the port side, but the starboard does not as it would potentially interfere with the slide adjustment of the helm seat.

Just used Robert at Yacht Inspect, he's based out of Stony Brook. Good guy to deal with and sent a ton of pictures with the report. https://yachtinspect.com/
