    Replacement parts

The hindges are made by a company called "SouthCo". I've found them on ebay -- Not cheap. The prop-rods can be purcahsed almost any automtive suppllier. Just measure the over-all lenght and be sure to get the same mount/ball size.

    livewell and fishbox

Glad you found the problem. While your checking, take a look at the thru-hull fittings. If they are plastic and have never been replaced, you should look into getting that done

    Kodiak Brakes vs Tie Down

I just replaced the drum brake system on my trailer last year. I went with the SS Kodiak units w/ the cadnum rotors. Boat has been in/out many times and only thing I do is rinse with Salt Away and fresh water. Plan on replacing your bake lines as well. Btw -- I did mine myself in about 1/2 day's...

    98 272 steering issues/trim/tilt issues

I had one of the two relays go bad on my starboard 150. It would go up but not down. It would not work at all from the helm sw. Replaced the "DOWN" relay and all is fine. This sounds like low fluid since you can hear the motor continue to whine, but the ram doesn't move. I would start there.

    Recommendation for a buffer

If you have never used a direct drive polisher/sander be VERY CARFUL when going over outside edges. The polisher tends to put more pressure on thes eareas when you pass over them. Also, be mideful of how much pressure you use when usin agressive oxidation removing compounds. You can easily...

    205 steering wheel removal?

I used a large gear puller and a brass hammer. If you are careful, any hammer will work. Once you get the nut loose out to the point where it is flsuh with the stem and put gentle pressure on the wheel its self. tap the nut while pulling on the wheel. It should pop free whitout to much force. I...

    wiper blade 33 express

Just a footnote: If you want your blades to last longer, Just cut a strip of foam pipe insulation slightly loger then the blades themselves and open the stuff via the split and slde them over the blades. It keeps the UV from drying out the blades.

    Chart Plotter position incorrect

Re-check later ---- The Navy has been known to play with the GPS system from time to time in that part of the bay. Talk to Mike down at Buzz's and he'll tell you the same thing.

    ICOM 422

Not a bad radio --- Mine works great with the antenna I matched to it. I put a Digital 529 8Ft antenna on my hardtop and it puts the tip of the antenna at almost 18Ft off the water. Remember --- VHF is primairly Line-of-sight. I have talked as far as 30 miles to the Coast Guard with mine. Shop...

Trolling speed with a 225 Yamaha

Stay away from using drift sock when trolling. IF the thing comes loose --- It's going right back in to the prop(s). At least a bucket will break-up if it hits the prop. That sock will be a MESS to try and remove.

    Gulfstream 23 vs Freedom/tournament 22

Congrats on the "newused" boat. Be sure to check the bracket that it's not holding water. That will also make the stern sit low in the water.

    Gulfstream Planing

My '97 won't "climb over the top" on one engine when I have a full crew and rigged for a day of fishing. It might -- just might , with only one person and all the junk out of it. Yeah -- like that is going to happen.

    Tongue weight on trailer.

Keep us posted on the axle change. I have a '97 Gulfstream and it took me the better part of a full day loading, un-loading and re-positioning the boat till I got the right setup. Trailer tows at 75+ with no problems. You mentioned that you have a Jeep. I've found over the years that vehicles...

    Canvas Shop?

A & J did all new canvas on my Gulfstream back in October. I also had them change the side curtians so that they are one(10 large window instead of 2. This also means that I can roll up the clear without un-snapping the canvas itself. This is a family owned business and really good peole to deal...

Sailfish 272 fuel fill - which one for main tank?

Putting fuel in a tank to find a leak is NOT a good idea under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. What happens if there IS a major leak -- Then What!! Get the mechanic to pressure test rather then put fuel in the tank. Be sure the mechanic KNOWS what he's doing as the tanks are not designed for much pressure to...

    Hydraulic Steering

Give the folks at SeaStar a call. They will be glad to help. I have a Single piston system on twin 150s that uses a link-Bar. As stated --- You will need to go to a dual piston set-up.

Trade the Grady for a bay boat?

How familiar are you with "Dead-Rise" boats. Most don't run much over 18-22 Knts. True -- a few are faster , but most are built for brute force heads-up sea-keeping abilities. I haven't seen to many in the 23Ft range as most are usually 30+ ft, single engine set-ups. They can be great boats when...

    Boating from Norfolk to Annaplis

A trip of 140 miles w/ 4 people in a 20Ft boat is going to be interesting. With the Chesapeake, you had better hope for following seas for most or all of the trip. I would make plans for at least 4 stops in case of bad weather, fog, or whatever reasons. Most of the bad weather approaches from...

Strapping Frozen Calipers to Axle - Question

About the easiest thing is to cut a piece of wood to fit in the caliper between the brake pads and secure it so it won't fall out. You could also just drill thru the coupler and put in a pin to stop the coupler from compressing and activating the master cylnder.
