Overnight power for 265 Express / Honda Portable Generator

My microwave alone is 1000Watts. For the small incremental cost go with the 2000i and the adpater you can run more loads and be less concerned about tripping. If if you want to go over the top you could use the 3000i without the adapter since it has a 30A twist lock. jh

    Batteries & Switches

It it isolated otherwise with just the aux charge lead connected you could crank the starter even with the main positive lead removed. Its connected to the stator/reg. jh

    Batteries & Switches

The cheapest solution, I would put everything back the way it was to factory (two perko switches). Add one more perko On/Both/Off Switch for the house load breaker and connect to each battery. That way you could dedicate battery 1 to the house and battery 2 to both motors and vica versa...

    175s on a '93 Sailfish 252G?

could always go to a single 350 4S? Edit: have you tried listing the hull no motors? jh

    Batteries & Switches

I tried to sketch it per your description and couldn't, maybe you could elaborate or post a sketch. The logic for your change did not make sense to me. It would have done exatly what you have now before the rewire if you just added the seperate on/off switch for house loads wired to the...

Gallons per hour on 1988 28' Marlin

I've got an identical set-up and burn 24-26gph at 25knts, 4100k on the tachs. 4000 is just a hair too slow and the engines and boat just don't play weel together there. That's with a brand new bottom this season, my Lee Sr's off the boat, and open array radar. I'll fish next season with...

    Anyone towing a 330 Express?

My Marlin is 14'-1" to top of radar on my trailer. If you are getting a trailer made you could easily get one to set the boat a few inches lower, but I don't think 5-6" lower is possible. You probably need to shoot for a 13'-6" over road height. jh

TO add to what bob said it should be Double Pole, Double Throw. DPDT if you are looking for a switch. jh

    Reverse Polarity

As an average boater I think he has a floated neutral. I looked at the Honda wiring diagram and there is no where shown that the neutral and the chassis ground reference are tied together. Since I did not test his install I take no liability on this one. The flickering is likely a result...

    Reverse Polarity

For those unfamilar with the reverse polarity light. 1) AC does not have polarity (we can clear that right up, it is a stupid name for this light) 2) Reverse polarity light indicates that the hot and neutral are swapped. 3) By reversing the hot and the neutral the AC circuit will still...

    Reverse Polarity

You realize what the reverse polarity light means right? That is a potientially fatal suggestion without further testing. I'm not going to suggest using or not using the system. If you are going to, make sure you test the potential between the boats negative DC and AC neutral. Test the...

There may have been more than one style offered. I don't own that model so I can't comment.

    Replacing Battery Charger

My 4D missing a half a gallon of water (literally) still ran overnight fridge, anchor light, and 2 DC fans, and GPS on the hook for 10 hours. I NEVER leave my charger on while I'm away from the boat. I charge when I get back to the dock and thats it. I put the water in this week and charged...

    Shore Power

I had to look it up, but surprisingly a NEMA L5-30R (125V, 2P, 3W) and a L6-30R (250V, 2P, 3W) are the same except one uses two hot legs other uses one hot and a neutral. jh

    Helm seat slider

My Pompanette slider would not work on my new Wise seats. The hole pattern and interference would not even accomodate modification of the Pompanette plate to work. Just an FYI. jh

    Reverse Polarity

It not a unique problem. It has to do with the inverter technology used in the Honda design. They use an inverter set-up as it allows them a much lower idle speed in eco mode. Pretty smart, they even have very clean sine wave output. I've never personally tested it as I don't own a Honda...

    Future of Boating & GW

Grog, I hear ya. The season is half over and I'm not missing anything. I'm doing a 54 mile sailboat race tonight. My daughters are still both very young (7 months and other is 2 years) and we have cruised more this year than ever doing beach runs and such. The 40-70 gallon fishing days are...

    DISC BRAKES FOR TRAILER

Switch to Kodiak and your troubles will be gone. My existing trailer for my Marlin is no longer a road trailer (the PO let it go). My previous trailers had tie down, one was a 2006 Venture bought new. that were problems all along, but never a severe failure as you describe. If for cost...
