    Future of Boating & GW

Well said. You can't justify skimping on your own retirement funding to send your hard earned money to the Middle East. Your furtures are very important and the govt and social secuity is on the brink of failure. My boat sits at the dock allot more this year and I vowed to not do any fishing...

    330 performance dropping

1000lbs of gear, water, and fuel in my boat make a 2knt difference. I have lightened the boat allot this season and it's made a world of difference. Before I was burning 15gph/motor at 22 knts (4100rpm), now 12.5gph/motor at 25.5knts (4100rpm). I also got a fresh new bottom over the winter...

    89' 242 Offshore bulkhead replacement,and total rewire

Looks very familiar. I love my BEP cluster and the aux 24hr panels, your look familiar.. I might suggest a few wire labels now while it is still fresh. this is an old photo while in progress, but I finally finished my charger install and stereo speakers to finish tywrapping the install...

    Good Marine Speakers

Installed the HD radio and my last two deck speakers last night. Sounds awesome. Probably 30-35 stations (15 or so digital) at the dock using my new Shakespeare 8' FG AM/FM antenna mounted on the hardtop. I know what CJ is saying about the woofers and amps if you buy top shelf speakers...

    Good Marine Speakers

HD radio has a Mail in rebate for $50 on select head units (there is a long list on their site). I'm installing my headunit tonight, JVC KD-HDW10. I'll post back on sound. I went with fairly inexpensive Dual box speakers from Boatersworld $29 per pair to replace my worn out little 4"...

    Couter rotating outboard

When backing down at slow speed your prop walk will be opposite of what you are used to. Other than that install and enjoy. I'm just letting you know in case you maverick into a slip in reverese, it will be different. jh

    330 express battery charger

As long as the batteries are connected you can run the charger while the switches are on. What he might have been trying to say is do not remove your batteries and run off a charger at the dock. It will toast senstive electronics and some cheap chargers. jh

GPS and VHF Antenna Mounting Ideas

The antenna should be flush or pole mount. I'd go flush mount just or behind or forward of your windshield. You will never know its there. You will need three longer M4 SS screws and you are done. No sense in adding a pole mount or ratchet mount. Your accruaccy rings will change when you...

    Kenwood stereo reception

I needed a new Headunit anyway so this was my best alternantive. I'm going to change my head unit this week to HD. HD radio has a $50 Mail in rebate for certain models through August I think. HD digital should come in with a short wire antenna if you're in the Baltimore area. On the bay...

A way to run the Norcold TekII frige on AC power?

My Waeco fridge is primarily a DC fridge, but an optional AC converter was added from Waeco. Most of these are designed for Mairne and Tractor and Trailer use so they are primarily DC based. The AC to DC converter is fairly small and mounted to the top of the fridge near the compressor. Mine...

    Battery Set Up

I believe the numbers you posted were volts. It indicates your charging system is charging onle the one battery. My 225's had a charger output option that used to run to a 2in to 3out isolator. I've removed that whole system and the chargeing outputs and let the motors charge their respective...

    Yes.

Its in the water. We ran a few miles over the weekend to watch fireworks. I have not fished all season except a little spinning with my 2 year old for perch at the dock. We plan on a trip this weekend to our YC that gives us 12 free nights a season. I can burn the gas to go stay somewhere...

After hooking them up what did you do? Do you have a battery switch? How did you know you hooked them up backwards (what made a loud noise)

    Lighting HELP

sunbrite LED and cross reference to what you want. Use octopart, newark, digikey, or mouser (.com on each) to purchase. I don;t use my deck lights all that often so I have not crossed mine yet. I have used all the baove for electrical parts and all are reputible. jh

    Engine Change and Bilge Maintenance

I did my Seaswirl on a motor swap as well. Make sure you plug any and all holes especially the motor mount lag holes, you don't want to force water down that could lead to rot issues. Any unused hole either fill with epoxy and let cure or 5200 and a proper screw. This is also the time to...

    Low juice in "house batteries"

The 50A factory breaker from my 1990 is here labeled "House" Everything else has been changed. Since you have power at the cabin lights, I'm not thinking this is it though. I think your electroncis are some how wired to a specific battery. jh

    Future of Boating & GW

Bob, NY is deregulated as is most of the East coast. As for cable markets, I don't see many people with a $100 cable bill switching back to rabbit ears, so supply and demand principals apply. People are willing to pay for "luxury" items, we just hate being squeezed for neccesities, like gas to...

    Low juice in "house batteries"

Not sure what accesories switch you are referring to. The cabin lights are fed from the DC panel in the cabin. The Helm console is fed from a seperate breaker out of the same panel. Assuming your guy wired all the accessories to the dash panel aux fuses you should have the same power at the...
