    Replacing batteries, any suggestions?

BTW with all my previous I/O boats I used dual purpose, but none did a good job as a true house bank. My boat came from Lewis and the PO ran it to the ditch allot. He showed me some shark pics, including a similar thresher. Nice pic. jh

    Replacing batteries, any suggestions?

It looks like you only have a single? Even with twins why would you want all starting batteries. Long and deep discharging makes them worthless very quickly. You obviously run to the canyon, so why sell yourself short. jh

    Anchor Windlass battery connection

To add onto what Bob said use a breaker within 6-8" of the unfused connection. This is the safest option. I like the Blue Seas breakers they trip and reset well. They are expensive, but work and last. If it were me, I'd use a connection on the battery switch output for a motor. The windlass...

    Portable Generators

always place your generator down wind and put in atleast one CO monitor if you are sleeping. I prefer the stern while at anchor on a single hook and a short cord jump to my shorepower inlet I feel this is the safest bet, but others may have different opinions. jh

    Dual Battery Question

Grady is pretty good about adding a breaker in the battery compartment for the house panels. Does your boat have such a breaker. It may have been moved improperly which bypasses the battery switch. I, like Bob, have a 24 hour circuit in my hardtop for the VHF. Depending on the level you...

Square 1/2 inch U-bolts (Stainless) cheap...where to find?

use caution stainless does not have the same tensil strength as heat treated steel which is then galvanized. You might want to find out the SWL of the SS ones before ordering. jh

    Electrical issues

If it were me I'd remove the charger DC side out and rewire it. Connect it to the battery inputs on the battery switches. Put fuses right were it connects to the switch. Here is how mine is done. The 24 hour panels are tapped off terminals B, C, and E. Off terminal F is the House breaker...

    Electrical issues

OK now we are getting somewhere. Are the two house batteries tied together in parallel and treated as one battery to a switch? If so the wiring is quite simple and someone screwed up your install, but it is easy to fix. Let me know about the question above and how to fix the problem...

Deck going soft is this normal

The biggest thing to check with any fastener as Pete said is that there is NO wood exposed to any through connection. It will absorb water. While our methods vary, I prefert the overdrill and pot with epoxy and then redrill proper size. If Grady did this from the factory they would not have a...

    Head Problems!

Yeah when it is just me I use the detachable shower hose from the sink and use FW. I always do this as my final rinse so the bowl is FW when I leave the boat, but at times I do forget. I now have a 2.5 year old and potty training on the boat should be a pleasant experience. At least I can...

    Head Problems!

I have the Jabsco 37010 model and love it. I never have to give the instructional on the head to guests. You push a button and viola it disappears. The pump rebuild kit is $40. The motor is expensive and they are to sticking when left idle for long periods of time. I'd really liek a fresh...

Polishing Hardtop Frame -- '97 Gulfstream

It depends on how bad it is. Mine is in pretty sad shape sicne the PO was on saltwater 100% and probably never washed the boat when he got back mine are pitted up too. I'm planning an assault with some emery cloth to knock down the big stuff and progress to a steel wool finish. once the...

How often does everyone replace their batteries?

Downtown, with the BEP system, all switches are two position "On" or "Off" Each battery runs indepentantly. When the motors are running the Charging relay closes and charges the house (I have a 4D). During an engine start the battery automatically isolates to keep the electronics from...

    how do you wet sand?

I've also used soft scrub or cleanser to "sand" out stubborn stuff in a pinch when detailing. It will require a deep cut (3-M heavy oxidize remover) pass and a finesse-it pass with the polisher when complete. It is slightly more aggressive than a polisher. These are good to switch to before...
