    Chesapeake Cobia

The rays are thick and while they can provide some entertainment on a super slow day they are generally, as you say, a dreaded nuisance. I typically run between about 2.5-3.2 kts indicated GPS speed over ground. Good luck!

    Chesapeake Cobia

Congrats on the Cobia. The couple times I was stationed in HR we only ever chummed or sight cast and I never connected. The last few years up here in the MD portion of the lower bay I've had success trolling with inline planers (usually #2s) and surge tubes with dark red being the most...

    Newly Inherited Marlin

I'm in southern Maryland, down near Point Lookout, but would be happy to travel up and provide some hands on education and practical training (particularly as my boat is out of the water right now). You can message me here or on my cell at 757-636-5280 if you'd like to discuss further. In any...

    electronics upgrade

Congrats, they're nice units and the flat glass display looks really clean and sharp. Looking forward to seeing a photo when it's complete.

    WTB Grady White 265

Congratulations and welcome to the club. She's a great boat. You'll get used to getting up to the bow, I've found it easiest to step outside the rail for the first few feet and then come back inboard, there's a lot of hardtop piping that makes great handholds. On the swim platform, there...

    electronics upgrade

No, there are a lot of differences. The keypad is the most visible one, some of the other major differences are the inclusion of a second integrated sonar unit so in addition to the 600W 3D RealVision you get a 1kW dual band capable CHIRP capability and the increased number of connections on...

Help Finding Cabin Door Hatch Hinge

I can't recall the correct technical term for that thing but I'm betting that if you remove one of the screws you'll find something similar to a press fit nut, it's essential a threaded cylinder attached to the flat washer face that you see exposed. If that's actually the case and it's not an...

    Kill box drain plug ?

I plug the live well because I often use it for dry storage of lunch bags or beach bags, things of that nature that guests bring on the boat with them and the live well would get water in it, wetting their belongings; ostensibly from being pushed up the drain tube as I keep the seacock closed...

    electronics upgrade

You can likely reuse the radar and transducer with a newer Raymarine, like one of the Axiom models, but may require adapters for the cabling. Have you searched the Raymarine owner's forum? When I was researching for my overhaul I saw a lot of similar questions posted there and if you can't...

Fuel gauge question - what to trust?

On my 265 the fuel gauge levels are good for general estimation but I don't trust them, am much more confident in the fuel flow meter and the total it reports. It's still not dead on accurate based on the fill up but it's much closer than the fuel level gauge indicates. On the upside, the bar...

    265 Express on stands

From when I had the bottom blasted and redone.

    Kill box drain plug ?

I use the brass handled bilge plug like Bloodweiser in the kill box as well. Couldn't find anything for the live well and ended up just getting a rubber stopper from the local hardware store, it's not airtight but works well enough for my purposes.

    265 express questions

Believe the biggest difference was a change in deadrise to accommodate the weight of the 4-strokes they started mounting in 2003. It seems like the jury is out on whether or not you need to do anything special when replacing 2s with 4s, some raised the scuppers, others didn't and reportedly...

    Keel Hitting Trailer Axle

Thanks, was good chatting with you. I tore that guide on the bow support when loading the boat prior to coming down here, gotta do a temp repair to get back home and then I’m going to put the same SurFix slicks on that I’ve got on the other bunks. -Brett

    Keel Hitting Trailer Axle

Had the same issue with my 265 and smacked the forward cross member hard a couple times, boat sits well on the bunks once loaded but the entry is so sharp it was making contact before the bunks started picking it up. Tried a roller and bent the crap out of it the very first time, something with...

    Washdown valve

Not sure if it would work but if you can access it at both ends maybe you can just replace it with some stainless steel cable cut to length from a hardware or marine supply store?

    2005 265 express

When I redid mine not only was the internal pump shot but the control panel was as well. Replaced with the external macerator arrangement based on what Max366 had done and replaced the control panel with a leftover Carling rocker switch. Not many opportunities to use it but just didn't like...

    Washdown valve

Not familiar with the cable arrangement. My 265 has extension rods for the seacock valves and the ball joint connector that joined the rod to the valve handle rusted out and I replaced those. Are you looking for that sort of thing or it something completely different?

    GW 265 Express Electronics Upgrade

Last weekend did not go as planned but I made it down today. Currently using the port side for flag storage but it'll fit rods up to 5'6". Starboard side will fit up to 6'6".
