Climbing onto and diving off hardtop..?

Okay - in order to facilitate the roof climbing, I did the following: 1. Added a 18" stainless handle to the top - one can grab this and pull themselves up onto the roof. (You may have to click on the photo to see the handle at the bottom of the right-hand panel.) 2. Wrapped the fat stubby...

    Realistic 272 Sailfish Review

This thread hits on the differences between the Sailfish models: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10904 I have a 94 which had a full transom rebuild in 2006 when the E-tecs when on it. If I had to do it again I would look for a 98 or newer 272 or 282. You would get the benefit of both the longer running...

    Gulfstream fuel efficiency

Seems a bit low to me - I'm doing a little bit better than with my Sailfish. Is your anti-ventilation plate visible when planing? Perhaps the motors are mounted too low. There is a docking thread that helped me here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19634&hilit=+dock One thing I found is that where I...

    Adding rod holders to 272?

I've been thinking about this too - I'll probably go in between the existing ones like this 282: http://www.popyachts.com/Boat/52666/For ... ounds.html

    Marlin Macerator help

The macerator pump is built into the storage tank which is accessible under the panels in your mid-birth. Start with the panel closest to the opening, I believe. (I thought it was Ayn Rand who said "If it is worth doing, it is worth overdoing" although Steven Tyler seemed to live it. My...

which walk around with a full v-berth and stand up head?

If I had to do it again I would pick up a 98 or newer Sailfish 272 or 282. In 98 the running surface was extended to the end of the Euro-transom and I believe 98 is the first year Greenwood was used in the transoms but I would double check on that. (Mine's a 94)

Climbing onto and diving off hardtop..?

Did some swimming off the boat yesterday and all the teenagers wanted to do was climb up onto the hardtop and jump or dive off. They had a ball but it is not easy to get up there since the Sailfish hardtop was not designed for this and there is not much to grab on to when pulling yourself over...

New E-Tec design to be anounced

The first hammer came out a month before the design was released...? :uhm I kind of agree on the looks of it, however. If I had to pick one now it would probably be black on black with maybe a light red accent but it might look like a Merc from a distance. I think the Evinrude marketing...

New E-Tec design to be anounced

Hammer...? Hammer down...! This 20 second video is great - boat is cruising along and the captain applies a bit more throttle to the E-Tec G2s. The passenger is thrown back into the seat while loose items fly back to the transom. Cool. 8) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PqtUa1i42s...

    New Here .... 265 questions

I think you want a 3/4 ton to tow that, not a 1/2 ton Expedition. At least I don't feel like I could tow my Sailfish with my Ford Expedition on a regular basis.

Potential deal on an 1999 225 Johnson Ficht. Need opinions.

Re: Potential deal on an 1999 225 Johnson Ficht. Need opini That engine is worth more than that in parts. This crappy looking lower unit on Ebay is almost $900...! http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/171260487728?lpid=82 Here is an interesting thread on that motor...

which walk around with a full v-berth and stand up head?

Sounds like you are describing my boat... 8) (Sailfish 252, 272 or 282 - you can download the catalogs for the various years at the Grady site. You will need something big to tow it - minimum 3/4 ton.)

does anyone know what this is

Is it a Great Lakes boat? I looked at a Sailfish in Buffalo once that had a pole of some kind mounted at the bow for trolling planner boards. Did the previous owner fish at all?

2013 250 ETEC No Oil Warning

Did he try the auto winterization procedure to see if it cleared the fault? There are threads on this at ETEC site, here is one: http://www.etecownersgroup.com/post/fal ... er-5079586

    Bilge area storage for Sailfish

Thanks - it's nice to have a separate area for "dirty" storage where there are no issues if some oil drips or cans rust.

    Yamaha repower

I have never heard of that problem - in fact, the E-tec has some special fuel injection mode at low RPM that barely sips fuel - less than any other outboard on the market. An E-tec burns something like 0.2 GPH at idle/slow troll. I do lots of trolling and still have the original plugs from 2006...

    ran into pier...cracked fiberglass

I suspect it cracked like that because the impact was so close to the transom which is so stiff - you can see how the crack followed the line of the transom. I'll bet if the impact occurred a few feet forward the hull would have just flexed and absorbed it, perhaps with a bit of cracking above...

New Etec on the market, impressions?

I know I'm heavily biased but I don't think anything looks better on the stern of a Grady then white on white shown in the photo below - white nicely matches the hull color very nicely... 8) I get a ton of complements on my boat from other boaters and their guests at my club. (With my old...
