Use of a Solar Panel to Keep Batteries Charged

pairing up a deep cycle and starting battery is dumb. best way to kill a battery is to expect deep cycle duties from a starting battery and starting current from a deep cycle. it takes very little extra work to have a dedicated start and house. I have a bluesea 5511e dual pole switch to turn...

Use of a Solar Panel to Keep Batteries Charged

The victron argo FET charge battery isolators are great. no voltage drop like the old diode block. BUT, with the solar charging the house bank, the two start batteries get nothing from the solar. My batteries are wired different then the idiotic Grady battery layout of: start and start+ house...

    Grady 205 with 3.3 f250 cant hit 50mph

if you claim to replicate the top speed of a "performance report" with a 20 year old boat with a smaller motor then id call you a liar. those reports are usually BS to some degree. sounds like your properly pitched and your boat is fine the way it is....your boat is not a 50mph boat, sorry

    Can I use a F350hp on my Islander ?

there seem to be lots of gen 2 etecs around with low hours... usually cheap. gear cases and steering seem to be problematic but if you can get some spares they would be a good match for your hull. I think a lot of people are panicking and dumping otherwise good motors. twin f200's were ample...

    257 fisherman prop size

you need a finer pitch prop. assuming you are trimmed up, no tabs, WOT etc..... general rule is 200rpm/1" of pitch. so if you have a 19" pitch, get a 17" pitch of the same make/model.

    Cabin Rod Storage 270 islander

thanks for those picts everyone! I see a few differences: -the front mounts sit lower on the 270 vs the 268. -the aft mounts attachment points are different because of the vinyl trim around the window. judging by the picts on the graph paper 1" grid, the aft mounts are 18" tall and each of...
