    mystery water

my 270 gets a wet bilge too. one trip I heard the forward bilge cycling every hour or so as I was sleeping. The next day I found the live well hose coming out of the pump had cracked at the hose barb and was peeing a stream into the bilge. ive fixed that leak but I still find a little water...

    black water tank replacement

lol. I received a quote from my local Canadian plastics place. a 14x20x16" tank built from 3/8" hdpe came in at 1660$ CAD. ( that would be 20 gals, double the size of OEM)... there is just no way im going to spend that. looks like im just going to seal up that split fitting and forget about...

    black water tank replacement

being LDPE silicone or any sealant won't adhere. I do like the aluminum plate idea.... but I dislike the idea of having to go inside the tank to install it...

    black water tank replacement

This is the groco shipt tank The spin weld fitting for the level sensor has popped on one side. The sensor doesn’t work anyways. I’ll look into the scad units. But I was thinking I need a bulkhead fitting that’s solid ( no hole) to dis that. Or should I try plastic welding? Would a...

    black water tank replacement

270 islander - I've got a cracked spin weld fitting in the top of my groco black water tank, makes for some stanky smells in the boat. the macerator pumps works really well, but I likely need to replace the sani hoses. Is there anyway to repair a cracked spin weld fitting in the top of the...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

great write up. My tanks on the 270 are opposite yours, 150 gal in the rear, 50 up front. Im finding a bit of red stain around top of my tank (dyed fuel) so im thinking of replacing my tanks too. do you think the removing the smaller 50 gal forward tank on the 270 will still need the...

New 1996 Grady White Islander 268 with twin 200 V6 Mercs

spoken like a true four stroker! that's premixed fuel/oil for the 2 stroke motors. x2 on the fill cap o rings. I had to syphon out 3 or 4 gallons of water from my tanks.

    Starboard question

I've found I get the best finish using a jig saw with a Bosch Progressor wood blade like (below). it has zero tooth set so makes a smooth cut.... and you can take it to the belt sander to radius /sand the corners. but for straight cuts use the table saw. I have no experience tracing patterns...

    2001 268 Islander very unstable.

I've found mine is sensitive to people walking around while under way. I've had to tell a few people to sit down and stay (bad dog), so I don't have to keep chasing their weight with trim tabs. just the nature of the beast with a narrow beam and 18degree dead rise

    2001 268 Islander very unstable.

too much tabs or motors trimmed in all the way will cause the boat to want to sit on one side or the other. tabs up, trim up generously, then minimal tab to trim side to side if needed.

    282 Anchor Recommendation

check out the Rocna fishermen anchors. you can drive over them and the shackle slides up the shank if they're ever caught . might be the ticket

    282 Anchor Recommendation

in my mind a 22lb is way inadequate for a 282. but I also spend a lot of nights at anchor and sometimes in 25-30mph winds plus gusts. im looking at taking off a 22lb delta plow and putting a 12kg(27lbs) Vulcan on my 270 for that reason. but if your just anchoring for the day then a 16.5 or 22 lb...

Advice on first Grady White purchase

big difference in running costs between a 232 and a 282. id do some homework and MPG on that. both great boats. ..I think my 270 is 45 ft long with engines trimmed up from coupler to skeg
