    Windlass and Islander questions.

lewmar profish on my 270 islander. it runs flawlessly. only have to regrease the gypsey once a year (maintenance ) sometimes the 8 plait to chain splice doesn't like to feed but it eventually goes. I've got 280ft of 1/2" 8 strand and 50ft of 1/4" g43 with a 22 lb delta plow. If I was...

    Sailfish 272 with waterlogged foam?

Get the boat onto your trailer and weigh it. Better than guessing. My 270 has foam in a lot of places but they’re all visible through ports or by removing panels

Here We Go- 265 Express 200 Suzuki repower. Questions for the experts

Can wait to hear the performance numbers: max mph, best cruise gpm (speed and rpm). I Repowered with twin 250 verados and I’m not getting the best gph at cruise compared to my old worn out Yamahas. Interested to see what the Suzukis do

    265 Express AC

I’d use the toilet intake and put in a new through hull above waterline where ever. Convenient I wouldn’t mess around with relying on a float switch and bilge to pump out water from a/c pump. That’s a great way to sink your boat imo. Condensation drain to shower sump I’d say is fine

    No power

What make model diameter and pitch of prop? Is it a pressed in rubber hub or a plastic square one? I’m still suspect of a bad rubber hub. Do you have a prop you can borrow to test out? What’s your wot rpm and speed normally? My 270 islander won’t plane on a single 200hp Yamaha with a 17”...

    Solar battery charger/maintainer

perhaps I can chime in on my setup. 270 islander. I used a renogy 100W flexible panel as I want to carry my tender on the roof occasionally and didn't want sharp edges of an aluminum frame. due to the curve, taper and shape of the roof a 100W flexible panel is all that will fit up there. I...

    Windless Issues

my guess is operator error or a mismatched rode/gypsy. two brand new rodes shouldn't chafe through in two days. have a read through the operation manual for the windlass

    Islander 270 Windlass Upgrade

my lewmar profish is in the forward oem location. with 280ft of 1/2" pleight and 50 ft of 1/4" chain I have to have someone tend the line as it comes in or it jams up. I wish it was mounted on the hatch more to the rear. would make it easier

    2021 Freedom 275 Anchor Selection

I use a 22lb kodiak (plow / delta knockoff) on my 270. 50ft chain then pleight rope. has held well for me. if your in 8 ft of water you should be able to see why its not holding

    Bilge High Water Alarm?

2-3" height is the recommended measurement for the high water alarm. I bet that's easily 150 gallons of water in my 270 before the alarm will sound. having it 4 or even 6" gives you far less time to react to a problem. because at this point either my front and rear bilge (1500 GPH/1700 GPH) are...

2003 26 ft express, needs a diesel heater, need recommendations around Vancouver bc

Im looking at installing a Chinese heater in my 270 Islander. installation looks like its going to be challenging. best place I can figure is in the port side gunwale ,inside the void space between the Walkaround and the front helm seats, or possibly in the compartment that holds the...

    Solar power

I would skip the Honda generator and go solar. It’s working 16 hours a day in the summer, no refueling. No noise. my old boat had dual group 31 batteries (house/start battery) with a blue seas acr. But no solar. I could still play the stereo all day long (1000w rms sub and 4 speakers) 400w...
