Buyer's remorse influenced by the interwebs

When its time to sell, you'll be glad it has the Yamaha. Right or wrong, that's what Joe-public is looking for.

    New guy here

First and foremost, did the engine have the corrosion service yet ? Otherwise it should run forever. I'd just start going through it and look for items that work and don't work. I generally fix mechanical, plumbing and electrical stuff first then move on to fishing and comfort. For anchoring...

I did this a long time ago on a non grady... use a torch and wire brush to clean the screws. Then use an rubber mallet & impact driver to pop the screws loose.

    96 232 tilt helm replacement

I just ordered a seal kit for about $12.00. Its usually the front seal which can apparently be replaced without pulling the helm out of the boat. Although mine appears to be the rear gasket that's leaking. There are some great youtube videos on rebuilding the helms.

    96 232 tilt helm replacement

Art, thanks. I like the tilt and its smooth as silk. Yea, I've use the wheel puller before, even needed and impact gun to make it pop off. I just looked at it and it seems to be leaking very slowly from the outer diameter. I'm going to check into new seals and see if I can save a few...

    96 232 tilt helm replacement

Anybody replace the tilt helm on a 96 era GW? Mine is leaving a puddle, at 21 years old I figure I'll just replace it. PITA, but needs to get done. If anyone knows which model helm is the proper replacement that would be very helpful. I'm having trouble on the Teleflex website.

    Transducer through hull install

I work for a manufacturer of polyurethane adhesives. 5200 is a very cleverly formulated and robust product. It has been modified/improved by the supplier over the years. That sort of overkill is exactly what I'm looking for when sealing a 2" hole at the bottom of my boat or holes passing...

    Transducer through hull install

transducer removal.... They don't come out easy. The last one I removed needed to be cut off with a sawz-all. Then I pushed it upward with a 3 ton jack, the hull lifted off the trailer for a moment and it popped through. Next, clean the opening I used a rasp to remove all the old 5200 and...

I took mine to a local shop that does furniture, automotive etc. He matched them perfect. I think its pretty routine and the vinyl is a common material.

    Cracked Fiberglass Near Transom

You see plenty of older Grady's set up with four strokes. I had a dealer tell me the same thing relative to repowering a 99 Parker. He was wrong, so glad I didn't listen.

    Batteries

Jump pack is a great tool. My marina has a couple on hand they loan out for when you leave something on and run batteries dead. Unfortunately, battery removal usually occurs at sea to help someone nearby that is stranded.

    Cracked Fiberglass Near Transom

If you can see the transom flexing 1/8" that is some considerable deflection. Visualize those engines lifting that boat out of the whole again and again, I'd suspect that the deflection will get worse. Eventually, the transom will likely crack all the way though and water will seep in. Slowly...
