    Port Engine Wont Start

I new battery in each bank? One battery is puffed out on the sides? One bad battery kills the whole bank as it drags the good battery down to the bad level. I'd suggest putting the two new batteries (if you haven't killed them already) together in the same bank and then try to start both...

    Charging Batteries While Trolling

Likely the total current draw of all the electronics/appliances you are using will exceed the alternator output at that rpm; however, remember the fridge only works intermittently. I would think the motor output would very much slow the drawdown of the batteris sufficiently to allow many, many...

    Towing Question

Ford shows the tow rating anywhere from 5,300 to 11,000 pounds. Rating varies significantly with different wheelbase, engine, tow package and transmission configurations. If you've checked on your SPECIFIC truck setup and have determined that you're in the 8,000 to 8,500 range I'd say you're...

    Beaching a Marlin

I always used two anchors. The first I deployed from the bow offshore. The second onshore - on the beach, dug in. Deboard off the transom ladder - first guy gets the most exposure to set the stern anchor.

Grady White Customer Service Does it Again

Chris: Only SEMI follow the instructions for the installation of the armrests as you can improve upon the installation. First, if you have any areas where the existing armrests have crumbled away you need to fill and smoothe them. First remove any loose and brittle material. Then fill the...

BRN/BLK Fwd Bilge Manual ON - from operators console BRN/RED Fwd bilge float switch - fused direct run from battery BRN/ORG Sump Pump - from breaker panel Since the wires were moved around, I would strongly suggest that you "ring" them out; that is, get a meter or 12 volt bulb and verify...

    Battery-size for an 04 Marlin

Put two of them in parallel and refigure. Question was a Marlin that generally has two banks of two in parallel. To put GP29's in you have to change the battery trays - but they will fit otherwise. I'd go either way.

    Battery-size for an 04 Marlin

Starting batteries, as they are called, have numerous, thin plates and are designed for short bursts of high amperage. Their amp-life or discharge rate is relatively short as compared to a dual purpose or deep cycle/trolling battery. The dual purpose batteries have thicker plate and are...

    Furuno problems

The fact that you get 2 different readings by unplugging and plugging the temp sensor tells me it is either in the transducer or the cable between the 582 and the transducer. Is there a second plug at the transducer?

    Battery-size for an 04 Marlin

I put Interstate gp 27 in my Marlin w/ a pair of Yammi F225's. SRM27B They are dual purpose, no problem charging and they gave the extra backup needed when drifting w/o motors while the electronics were powered on. They also fit into the trays of the original set. Void Yammi warranty...

Florida Boat Tragedy: Question about radio contact off shore

Re: GPIRB If you get into trouble out there, no price will be too high. Just because you can hear someone on a VHF radio, doesn't mean they're able to hear you. They may be broadcasting from a higher platform, at a greater power or with a more efficient antenna. An EPIRB w/ integral...

Suggestions Needed Immediately! Thanks in advance...

You may as well find another home for your boat. Most marinas rely upon overall dimensions for purposes of charging for and assigning slips. Saying rubrails don't count, or bow pulpits, or outboards, or swim platforms - are not going to get you anywhere. Measuring requires nothing more than a...

    225 4 strokes timing belt

The belt is tensioned through a spring loaded tensioner and there is no adjustment. You inspect the belt by removing the top cover and rotating the flywheel in a clockwise direction using a socket wrench. Obviously power sources should be switched off and easiest if plugs are removed. Observe...

Where are you located? I've done plenty installs and never had an issue. I'd recommend you lay out the cabling in advance to determine routing and connection locations. There's nothing there that should trip you up.
