    NE WINTERS SUCK

They are as brazen as you can imagine. Mine was in a secured lot, keyed entry, security cameras, lit as bright as day. They broke through a chained gate, jerked my boat (that cannot be seen from any angle from the highway - scoped out job) to the middle of the lot, cut the control cables...

    NE WINTERS SUCK

Funny! You guys up north put your boat in a garage during the winter so you can work on it. I'm having a garage built here in Florida just to keep the motors from being stolen! Sad, but true.

Hull repair, paint & trailer adjustment questions

Timo: If you're not keeping the boat in the water and plan on launching each time from the trailer, I wouldn't do anything at all about bottom paint...yet. Fix your strakes and by all means get the rollers adjusted. Over the new repair areas, use a barrier coat as if preparing for bottom...

    Hull Damage?

You're lucky someone didn't play Superman through the windshield. It sounds like a soft landing and everything should be OK. I'd do the external inspection as well as an interior inspection to the extent that you can. Also inspect any thru-hulls for damage.

    04 Marlin-Accessing Seacocks

have a machine shop make up longer rods and replace the existing ones. You'll have to look whether you need additional support in holding the rods in vertical position.

    Marlin t.v install

I don't have pics but installed a LCD flat screen on the wall to the head, so it faced toward the bow. That way you could watch it from the v-berth.

    Annual Yamaha maint?

30 hours and new water pump??? Nah-h-h. I personally would go by the hours and not the calendar. 30 hours in a year means your runs are awfully short or your use is minimal. In either case, I would make sure that the motors are periodically started and brought up to operating temperature.

    Converting I/O to an Outboard

I did the conversion on an older 22 foot Invader that I owned years ago. Here's the good and the bad: We removed the I/O (350), glassed up and reinforced the transom, then added a bracket and a new Yammi 225. I used the space gained under the deck for an additional fuel tank. The boat...

    marlin 30 question

No, I bought mine in Atlanta where I was living at the time and had it hauled to the Keys where it spent the first 18 months of its life...then to Palm Beach Gardens. I've dealt with Vero Marine for parts, etc and they're very helpful.

    Auto Pilot probs

I think actuator failure refers to the rudder (motor) position sensor, probably the most common source of failure.

    All New Electronics Package ?

I used to think the same until I had a chance to look at the new Furuno stuff. The refresh rate of the old Furuno plotters used to be really slow and annoying. Not so any more - they're up to par with, if not better than, Garmin.

New guy looking at a boat

On this old a boat, stringer rot is a big issue. Do a visual under the deck in as many places as you can. Get the owners permission to take a screwdriver or ice pick and try to find rotten spots in the stringers. Carefully inspect the rails where the engine mounts. Have someone outside the...

holding tank indicator vs discharge pump on 33 express

Duckbill valve. Correct, if you run the pump with the discharge seacock closed, the valves will be sucked inside out. BUT, the first time you replace the valves you'll never forget again.

    Marine Airrrr

Refer to the owner's manual. There are a good number of settings that can be programmed and they can be quite useful. For example, when docked at my marina I let the AC run full time at a 75 degree setting. Depending upon the humidity, the coils occasionally froze up and would stay frozen...
