    Surveyour needed RI

I have worked with Bernie Feeney twice on 330's. He is out of MA, but my guess is RI is within his scope. Gulf of Maine Surveyors. K

    Dash modernization

Best advice I can give is to make a model of the area - use cardboard to mock up the dash area, then go online to the MFD website and get the dimensions from the installation guide. Cut those out of paper or different cardboard, place them over the cardboard. That will go a long way towards...

    Repowering a 330

I'd run the hell out of the existing motors, and save the extra 100k for other costs. The 2018 should be the later series with much fewer issues.

    330 water in the bildge

There are a couple of places where water will reach the bilge without anything 'wrong' with the boat. rain water on the deck will find it's way through the rear access panel for the generator is primary. It then will flow forward to the lowest spot in the hull. As ACV mentioned, the fresh...

    Electronics hatch switch

Sounds like the actuator is working correctly. The motor runs in forward or reverse based on the polarity of the current through the switch. Hookup1 above has it with more detail. If you can't figure out the wiring based on Hookup's description, google reversing polarity through a switch or...

    Led spreader lights

I recall it being quite simple to swap out the old ones for new Taco LED lights. New ones are significantly brighter and use less power.

    330 Express Speaker Replacement

I'd think about the jigsaw, with the appropriate blade for fiberglass. But no matter what tool you are going to use, lay down a layer of masking tape over the area to be cut so that it is at least an inch on either side of the cut - with the circle, it may not be possible to get a full inch...

    Boating after dark - options?

I am a north up sort on the GPS for normal usage. An experienced mariner friend who I trust completely, does things differently when navigating in fog or at night. Assume 2 screens. On one of them, orient the chart course up, bring the range waaaay in tight, and overlay radar. On the other...

Recommendations on six person life raft

I'm happy with the Viking raft I purchased. I opted for the valise, rather than the hard mount. If I were to do over, I'd probably get the hard mount and put it on the hardtop. As it sits, it tends to take up a good deal of space in the cabin and is somewhat heavy. Purchased through LRSE...

    Boating after dark - options?

Definitely Radar as #1. Garmin makes a good radar and it should be compatible with your MFD. Adding a set of Navionics charts and overlaying the Radar on top will really help. However, it is not magic. Best practice is to use the Radar All. The. Time. During. The. Day. Practice at...

Running wire from Transom to helm on a 330

Following up. The job was done yesterday. Turned out to be easier than anticipated. Pretty much removed the same components as outlined by HMBJack above. Most difficult part was not snaking the wires, but turned out to be the final connections of the tiny wires inside the helm area. I...

Running wire from Transom to helm on a 330

Need to install a new sensor at the motors for my autopilot. The existing one looks to go into one of the two rigging tubes in the transom. The autopilot head is behind the gauge bubble at the helm. I have not found a thread on what needs to come apart to access the wiring run. I know...

    330 Express RePower

Repowered last winter with 300's. Moved up from 225 3.3l lots more torque, and more speed. Seat of the pants feel is day and night. Economy not as significantly better as desired, but that could be props. Thrilled overall. Feel free to PM with any specifics.

How far out in the ocean would you travel from land?

I had an engine failure 42 miles out last year. Was able to make 7 knots home on the good motor. So a kicker at 6 is not a bad insurance policy.

How far out in the ocean would you travel from land?

Just this past Sunday night, I overnighted at West Atlantis Canyon, approx 100 miles out of my harbor. I carry a bunch of safety gear, including a Viking Raft, an EPIRB, a PLB, Garmin in-reach, portable VHF and all the standard required stuff. Always have a float plan with family and a few...

    Electronic hatch lifter

That looks similar to the one on my 330 from memory. If you can access the power leads, connect them directly to a battery and test. To make it move in the other direction, swap the polarity.

    Charger and Shore power

Proper way will be to use a good wire splice, with marine connectors and heat shrink.

    Electronic hatch lifter

Check the switches as well. There may be a wiring gremlin in them. I was pleasantly surprised when my broken lifter was not broken at all, but had a bad switch. If they are burning out, there may be a wiring issue.

    Repower Options: Seafarer 228G

I don't think that I've ever heard someone complain they had too much power. Yes, usually there is an efficiency gain with more power. But going from a 2 to 4 stroke, I'd definitely want larger. A new 250 yamaha 4.2 would be a big difference.
