    access plate seal

I replaced all of mine a few years back. Local Grady Dealer had them in stock for a few bucks apiece.

Winterization of my 2002 GW Marlin

I resurrected this post from a few years back. It was, I thought, a good write-up on how to winterize your Grady. It is, unfortunately, that time of year for us up north. The one thing I would add to the list is the shower sump. Other than that, a pretty comprehensive summary. As stated by the...

Don't forget the shower sump, fuel water separators and fuel filters..

    Curtains on my Gulfstream

I have been using 210 since my boat was new in 2000. Nothing but good things to say about the product. That being said, it seems that even though the plastic still looks great after 14 seasons, when the plastic gets soaked it will sometimes "fog" up, almost like the plastic is holding water. My...

    Electronics box hatch

Those may be a replacement hinge, but the original hinges are two position hinges (those may or may not be two position). I got a pair a few years back from my local Grady dealer. Even if they are a few bucks more, I would suggest the two position over the one. As relates to the sounder, if you...

    Overboard Discharge

Only the discharge seacock should be open. The saltwater intake seacock should be closed. You didn't say if your level indicator light was on or not. If it was on and didn't go off after you pumped out then you probably have a "mechanical" issue. If the light was not on, then try pumping...

    Fuel Management Glitch

Heard back from my mechanic. Turns out the chip is in the gauge. Sounds like the fix is a new gauge. He thought the gauge was around $600. I will find out tomorrow.

    Fuel Management Glitch

Brian, Thanks for the response, but if you reread the above you will see that I was getting GPH and MPG, so the issue has nothing to do with the pickup tube..... nice try though :)

    Fuel Management Glitch

Was out fishing a few days ago about 50 miles offshore. The boat is a 2000 Sailfish with twin 200 HPDI's, which I have owned since new. Given the distance we were traveling, I decided to dial in the MPG's to optimize fuel usage for the conditions. The fuel management system is the factory...

    Anchor problem

You might try oiling up the roller. Mine hangs up at the start of every season. A little oil on the roller and working it in by pulling the anchor up and down does the trick for me. Hopefully it is that simple for you.

Read this if you have at least 100 posts:)

Good guess. By the way, I read all the 'what wax do you use' threads. I find those posts interesting since you get the experiences of other boaters. It's the "what should I name my boat" kind of posts that you rarely used to see on this site but see every day on other 'Truthful' sites. I am...

Read this if you have at least 100 posts:)

Seasick......I can't help myself....I am really tired of having to see and ignore this post for a while now. If I were a mod I would have deleted this post on day one on general principal. It is probably the least contributive post I have seen here. If you don't like what you see.....leave...

Salt water washdown and fresh water tank

My guess is that what you are seeing in the "front bilge" is not coming from your fresh water tank. On my Sailfish, like many others, water tends to accumulate there versus the aft bilge area. The easiest way to confirm is to put some food coloring in your tank. You will know soon enough if...

Play in hydraulic steering while underway

Not sure what you consider a little play, but some play is normal. Having said that, you can check the level by removing the cap just forward of the steering wheel . If you need to add any fluid I found an eyedropper was an easy way to do it. If your problem is just needing to add fluid then you...

    My latest problem...

Besides checking the batteries, connections etc., you may want to check that the charger is still good if they are running low while on shore power.

Magicalbill....not to derail your thread, but what am I missing? Salt on your boat in Indiana? How do you manage that?

    Fresh Water Washdown Replacement

I replced the whole assembly last year on my Sailfish. Ordered direct from Scandvik, who is the OEM. Was not very expensive. Just do a search and hunt around on their site and you should be able to find what you need.

Removal of Batteries for Winter 272 98

All I ever do on both my boats is charge the batteries before storing the boat for the winter and disconnect the positive leads. Same as Fishtails....never saw a difference in battery life compared to others who do remove. One tip though is, either way, it is always a good idea to wire-tie each...

    282 Sailfish Fuel Tank Corrosion?

I don't know how to answer your question on why it took 5 years. The old fuel (MTBE) caused the scaling and E-10 scrubs the tanks. As far as your second question, the interval seems to be getting better. I am on my second season without having the VST's cleaned. I am hoping I am past the...
