    282 Sailfish Fuel Tank Corrosion?

Most likely the issue is the ethanol scrubbing the oxidation off your tanks. I have a 2000 Sailfish with 200 HPDI's. The big problem with ethanol, aluminum tanks and HPDI's is the VST filter clogs. I had mine cleaned three times over three seaons before the tanks seemed to be scrubbed (I hope)...

deck access plate gaskets or O rings

I replaced all mine a few years ago. I got them from the local Grady dealer. If you haven't tried yet, give your nearest dealer a call. They should be able to ship them to you.

    Bottom Paint Question

I usually get two seasons out of the paint. I did a full repaint last year. This year will just be a touch-up to a few spots and its good to go. I used to repaint every year but 6 or 7 years ago realized that it really wasn't necessary. Have never had a problem with the bottom.

    Grady White 282- Water Filter

I believe we are talking the same "filter". On my 2000 Sailfish it is nothing more than a screen on the front end of the pump. That is what would clog first and the only way to get at it was to remove the aft panel in the aft berth. The answer to your other question re bleach is yes. If the...

    Grady White 282- Water Filter

I got tired of getting at that filter everytime there was a clog so I removed the screen 5 years ago. It is much easier to unscrew the faucet end if there is an issue. Unsrew it, clean the screen, screw it back on and back in business.

STARBOARD DECK DRAINS 94 AND UP SAILFISH

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing the old "lobstergutts" just came to visit us from THT. Either way....that is quite an all cap rant. Late Flash..... Having said the above, I went over to THT for my usual read after leaving here and saw a post regarding the 232 Gulfstream. One guy was asking...

    QUESTIONS--Towing a 208 w- a Grand Cherokee

A few other suggestions: 1) Add a transmisson cooler to the Jeep. 2) Not sure what year Jeep, but most have a "tow" button, which locks out the overdrive. Be sure to use it. 3) Be sure to leave plenty of stopping distance between you and the vehicles in front of you.

    stereo upgrade on 2008 marlin

The cockpit speakers on my Sailfish are also mounted under the gunnel just aft of the fishboxes/seats. They are downward facing. Great sound and well protected. Still going strong after 12 seasons. I only have 4 speakers (2 more in the cabin) so did not use a pre-amp. I also have a dash mount...

Anyone have a good winterizing checklist

It is bracket mounted inside the box. It can be tilted up or down just a bit, but not side to side.

    Lower Dash E-box on Sailfish

I have a 2000 Saifish which has a Furuno 1850 combo GPS/fishfinder mounted in the lower box. It is a tight fit to remove/reinstall every season, but it fits. I don't know what current units are the same dimensions, but I suspect even a quarter inch more in the height or depth and it wouldn't...

    Cushion Upholsterer Boston Area

These guys did my Sailfish 2 years ago. Good price and the combing was as good or better than the original. He came to the boat removed my old combing, fabricated the new and came back and reinstalled in a couple of days. They are in Beverly so I don't know if he will come to you or you will...

    '05 Marlin Cockpit Bolsters

I had mine redone locally a few years back on my Sailfish. The cost was about a third of what the local GW dealer would charge. The quality was as good or better than the factory set.

    2004 Sailfish Hydraulic Steering Question

You asked if it is possible to overfill......the answer is yes. If you do overfill, when it gets hot in the helm (especially if you have the enclosure closed) the fluid will expand, be forced out the vented cap and end up running down the back side of the unit due to gravity.

Irene- To haul or not to haul

I scheduled my boat to be hauled tomorrow morning. Most insurance companies will cover half the cost up to $1,000. I figured for a few hundred bucks out of pocket I would rather focus on the house (I live across from the beach) and not have to worry about the boat as well. Good luck to all...

    2006 330 fresh water filter

I gave up about 5 years ago and just removed the screen filter before the pump. If there are any clogs now it happens at the faucets. It is much easier to unscrew the faucet end than it is to open up the back panel and remove the screen at the pump.

    Priming the Water System

I had that happen on my Sailfish once. All I did was to disconnect the hose on the output side of the water pump until it shot water out and then reconnected the hose. Worked fine after that.

    Slippery Helm Deck

Larry, I am not sure how a new cap could fix the problem. If it is vented and the helm area gets hot enough the fluid will expand and find its way out the vent. If the cap isn't vented, as was the case with my defective replacement, then either the cap will blow or the fluid will find its way...
